Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well...think it'd at least look good on a resume? Maybe?
*sniff* I forgot my USB drive again today. Had your story to read, but only on that.
It's snowing hard out there. Dunno if I'll actually go to the Irish session or not. My inclination is to get the few ingredients I'm missing to make chili, and stay inside writing tonight.

Mmm, only go if you really want to. Not worth facing the bad weather? Then just eat chili...

That is it! Exactly!
I once had a stomach problem that required me to take 4 tablespoons of Pepto 3 times a day...twist my arm, I LOVE the stuff! I coulda guzzled a whole BOTTLE three times a day!
But that is exactly the pink! I'll call it my Pepto Suit.

And read.
I still have manga, for one...
And the very odd book I borrowed from Dad.

Gggaaa! I really don't like that stuff. I can't take it...makes me gag so I can't get it down. Dunno what it is. I get sicker taking it than I would just having indigestion or whatever. I feel queasy just thinkin' about it.
Leaves more for you, I guess! ;-)

I tell ya what I can't stand...Kaopectate. Yuck.
Pepto, I love.
And Alka Seltzer. I love it too. Look for reasons to take it! LOL Regular Lemon lime or, more rarely, the citris Morning Relief.
I'll stretch and say, "Oh, my back is aching." Josh will say "Mom!! Take some Alka Seltzer!" LOL

One from Jasper Fforde's "Thursday Next" series. They're interesting, but not truly good. Lot of explained away illogic - and the very first book (
The Eyre Affair) has changes made to Jane Eyre...which is just...heretical.
Basically it takes place in an alternate reality where people have always valued literature above science - i.e. there are machines on every corner in which you can drop a quarter to hear a Shakespeare quote - and yet where time travel is possible. And starting with the first book, there are ways to move into books.
It's complicated and not explained, because he just says "it's not explainable". But interesting in an odd sort of way.

KaopectateI dunno what that is! I'll just hafta take your word for it. ;-)
Pepto is one of the few things that just make me literally gag. Benedryl - the cinnamon flavor - that does it too. Luckily I only had that once or twice. Mom gave it to us when we had chicken pox - supposedly it would help with the itching. It was *nasty* I can still remember the taste and smell, even fifteen years later.

I've heard of that series but haven't seen them at the bookstore. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong section.
Changing books is bad...

They'd probably be in sci-fi...but aren't truly sci-fi, so I dunno! Our library has some of 'em.
To me they're partly interesting because he makes reference to so many books, but even so...
It's an interesting concept, mind you...just don't know if it works.

I shall have to check this out. Books referencing other books are great, sometimes I stumble across a gem I haven't read before.

Oh, yes. She introduced me to Dorothy Sayers, for one.
