The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Neither Joseph nor Clare had school today. Waiting for the Dish Network guy to come install the equipment. Haven't heard anything, but wouldn't be surprised if he didn't snow. I certainly wouldn't want to be climbing up on somebody's roof to install a Dish in THIS weather! We've got about 6 inches on the ground, and they're expecting another couple before it stops snowing. After that it changes to sleet and freezing rain. Oh joy! At least I don't have to go anywhere!

Apparently, we're flooded.

Little sister couldn't get to school for her first day of classes. The Parkway is closed, so Mom has to get Dad's alternate route off of him to get other sister to the airport. Fun.

I swear, asg, I'm gonna get me the biggest freezer and stock it full! Hopefully with some deer meat from Steve's hunting, but nonetheless...

I'm gonna do that "cook for a day eat for a month" thing too...

Flooding...not good! Hope they make it to the airport OK!

I got paid, so I'm no longer destitute. Always good.

Oh, good, I'm glad you got paid!

Yeah, flooding is not good. We're fine since we're on a hill, but everywhere else is iffy.

I guess I gotta get even more series about not spending anything except on food and fuel if I'm gonna get out of here.

And I'm going to start clearing out the house. Even if I don't move at all, I have way too much crap.

As far as I'm concerned, all you have to do is get here. If you're pennyless for a month, you can eat rice and curry like me :-)

There's still the house and the pets to worry about. And other bills.

I'm trying to think positive, but kinda got lambasted last night for not just "accepting the choices I've already made", and still have a headache.

Tonight is session night, though. That'll be fun. And if I can straighted out a few things in my own mind, I'll feel better.

"Accepting the choices you've already made"? That's idiotic!

When I was about 8, my parents had to move because they had too many kids for the house. They couldn't afford a bigger place near DC, so they packed us up and moved to Pittsburgh. Nobody told them they had to stay because of previous choices! That's just silly!

My family has never been of the "Aw, just go for it" sort, I guess. And I'm someone that constantly seeks approval, though of course I shouldn't.

It's often not a good combination.

Well, we're the cheerleaders you need!

Maybe if you're a little more assertive, they'll get behind you and help out?

just "accepting the choices I've already made",

Blah. You're young and single! This is absolutely the best time to pick up and go have an adventure or two.

If I'm assertive, I'm "bossy". I can't win. ;-)

But yah, I think you guys can help push me. And I need that.

I wrote Steve an email this morning. Here is his response...which is a typical email from Steve...

"Yes. No. Show me the money! Don't know. I know. Good."
