New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Yay!!!
Nope. She's thinking about a major in Japanese (language) with an idea of becoming a translator of Manga and Anime ;o). She's also entertained the possibility of Cognitive Psychology. David got a double major in Comp. Sci and Psychology, and was talking about Cog Psych, and she seemed interested. Who knows? She's got a while to figure it out.
Well, I hope you get it, 2J, sounds like you will!
Be careful driving it, though.
Good Evening Hair - absolutely great pictures of Gidget and Homer. Homer appeared to be "on point" in one picture. Homer has learned "There's no place like home" in the last set.
He looks like a great old dog, one that has seen some hard traveling and is grateful for caring guardians like yourselves.
"Saving the world, one dog at a time."
I had 2 staves left, so I glued handles on 'em today....Might try to make one of 'em a little more powerful than 50, just in case I get stronger shoulder during the year ;-) Not sure how much an ash stave can actually take, though.
Evening Sam - been bow building or fixing up the range?
I have to find some sort of thing to use for a target, I guess. We used cardboard boxes in Virginia, which was fun, as the arrows passed right through them most of the time...'course that messed up the fletching some...gotta get some feathers, I guess, and maybe a fletching jig?
I suppose a couple of deer targets would be good practice, haven't priced them, though.
Evening Suzi - the firewood is stacked neatly in the kitchen, enough for several hours or overnite at a time. The mattress would fit once we moved a chair and the formerly non-working TV etc.
We were wondering how many of critters would be wanting to share the bed and fire tonight. Glad we didn't need to find out - though we've done it before under more trying circumstances.
Giving your heart to a dog to tear... ~snif~ ;~D
Well, you're about at the limit of ash wood at 50lbs with that design. I don't recall the specific gravity of ash but that is a good rule of thumb for the amount of weight you can reasonably get out of a given wood species.
Hickory would get you a bit more but generally lumber yards and wood places sell pecan as hickory (okay it is the same genus) but there are 5 major hickory species, each increasing in specific gravity and therefore higher poundage bows.
Targets, there are lots of them on the market, most are plastic mesh in a woven plastic bag. Very durable and will stop the arrows like they should.
A bit of Duco cement and straight pins will get the errant feathers back in place. Wrapping the front end of the feathers with fishing line or better is fishing rod ferrule wrap, then gluing in down.
Never look a gift bug in the mouth!
True enough Hair, but we do again and again. As one dog leaves our life, there is room for another, and then another.
We'll not likely ever run out of dogs that need a home and will love us for the care that we can give them, for however long it may be.
So I need either to change the design or go to another woood, like maple or oak or something?
Heh...my pets suddenly become best friends whenever I turn the thermostat down. ;-) All past differences disappear as soon as the temperature goes below even sixty-five or so. Sissy cats...
Rosie - they sure seem to enjoy the 'companionship' don't they?
Sam: probably, but go ahead and post it on the pow-pow forum and see what responses you get. Could be vey interesting to see how it breaks out.

Evening...
We had a lovely dinner. My back hurts. I'm kind of tired.
I'm transcribing story from my notebook. Will hit about 20k today.
I know I'm not exactly writing great literature, but I kinda like this story. Especially now that the evil twist exists in my mind. I just hope I can pull it off without revealing too much too soon. I'm not very good at that, as you know.
You're better than you give yourself credit for! No disparaging remarks from my future housemate!
