Too bad you don't have a local LotR geek-pal to go with...

Well, you can tell Jr. that we saw quite a few teenage girls at our concert.

Teenage girls in groups.

They were kind of shadowy wings.....

Wonder if they had hot sauce on them.

I'm still not convinced they were physical wings, though. More like wings of shadow and flame. ;-)

I think that's how they should be, though!

PJ seemed pretty pleased with the way the Balrog turned out. (according to the director's commentary). He also mentioned that they had a much longer Gandalf/Balrog fight scene including a long fight in the water and chase up the endless staircase. Got cut in one of the revisions.

Having a great time listening to the director's commentary on the Movies.

Been cleaning off the workbench, it's been great finding so many useful things that I wondered where they had gone to. Best get back to it.

Movie 1 is almost over. I'll go out and work on the garage for a bit. Movie 2 starts at 3:00 with some chamomille tea...tea time an hour early.

Yes.... I agree! I've been distracted on another thread, but I'll bump it if it gets slow, so lots see it... feel free to keep posting stuff to me as well, just to keep it up in the comments.

Ping SamWolf to the thread from the Foxhole... and/or some of the canteen people.

When Clare and I went to see the Hartford Symphony, Howard Shore was not there. The conductor was visiting from Seattle. We enjoyed it tremendously, anyway. While the music was playing, they showed drawings and watercolors done by both Alan Lee and John Howe from their collections of drawings for the books; some I'd never seen before. It was fascinating to watch the violinists playing the music from the "Lighting of the Beacons" scene. I don't see how they had any energy to play anything else after that one!

One of the reasons I wanted the Deluxe Edition of ROTK EE is because it has an extra disc that is a 'making of' the symphony. I haven't gotten the chance to watch it yet, but I'll have it here, when I do!

I always immensely enjoy hearing familiar music performed live, and being able to watch the musicians and conductor.

Me too, that's why we enjoyed it so much.

There are very few things I regret, but one of them is not going to a symphony before I lost my hearing in my right ear. I always wanted to and still will if I ever get the chance asg, but I can't imagine it will sound as good.

Ha! The other day, I put the teakettle on and forgot about it...started doing something else when the teakettle started whistling and I thought there was something wrong with the water pipe under the sink! Like it had ruptured or something. (The kettle was on my right, the sink on my left...the sound seemed to be coming from the left!) I had jerked open the under-sink cabinet door before it dawned on me what that sound was! Just the kettle whistling! LOL

I bet that would be frustrating! Do you notice a real difference in movie sound quality?
