The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The batch with the cranberries was a little dry and the one with the cherries was a little gooey. I tried to split the 7 oz. of Marshmallow creme in half, but I guess it didn't work properly. Tastes good anyway, though! Just got done with another batch. This time, I used Hershey's Special Dark chips and put a cup and a half of chopped toasted pecans in it. Can't wait to sample that batch. SSQ loves the stuff I made with the dark Ghiradelli chips!

In the preview, it looked as though Jim Carrey was LESS Jim Carrey than usual, which, in my opinion, is a good thing.

He was, and it was, and the character he played was supposed to be an insane, over the top, lousy actor, so it was perfect.

'Evenin'...

My "company" has vanished for a coupla days. Mom wants to check the condition of the house, and Sis wants to rearrange her old room.

Business took me almost to Chicago today. Thank the Lord the roads were good.

Saw the trebuchet site...lol...the cousin/roommate has recently been to see his crazy college roommate and family in Peoria. Dude has a pretty big trebuchet in the back yard. His little girls (!) like to fling stuff with it...

Good pix, g'nad and Corin. Also bittygirl in the dress...

Tmorrow evening the c/r, the other cousin, the other other cousin and I will see Polar Express in 3D IMAX...those of you who have followed the adventures so far will note this is about the fourth time mentioned...but this time we have bought our tickets (on-line), and It Shall Be So...

That's a really nifty gizmo. The more I look at it the more I like it. Makes me wanna get a new shotgun, just to put in there. :-)

I have a beat-up mossberg 500 that has definitely seen its better days. The safety is broken. Always wanted a Remington 870.

I started the OU-OSU bedlam game on it.

Heh...my brother got a Gameboy (I think...some cubey thing that plays video games) and a NCAA football game to go with it. My nephews were playing UNC vs State. The nephew with UNC was grumbling that his team wasn't very good. "Get used to it, kid!"
