We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
China, which had been ready to rapidly expand textile exports when the general agreement which governs such trade expired next January 1. The Bush Administration had been ready, in response, to limit the amount of Chinese fabric that would be dumped in this country, that readiness has been curbed by a Chinese announcement of export taxes on textiles. This is seen as a victory for the Bush Administration. (The New York Times actually printed words to the effect of the last sentence and it got by their censor, er, editor.)
The recount in Ohio will begin this week. No matter, however, as Ohio's 20 Electoral Votes will be cast today for George W. Bush, and counted as such on January 3. That hasn't, however, kept the Kerry Campaign (how many different ways can you say "loser"?) from demanding to see the 92,000 ballots in the state for which no vote was recorded for President. Never mind that President won by 119,000 votes, the LOSER wants to "inspect" those ballots anyway.
Afghan President Karzai says that The Evil One is definitely located "in the region," though United States sources admit the trail is cold.
And China will soon host the finals of the country's first "Miss Artificial Beauty" pageant. Partakers in the pageant will have all been recipients of plastic surgery to enhance their looks.
For AMERICA - The Right Way I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
chuckes............. you were posting as I was keying..
do you know how to find FReep Mail?
you have some!
No. They followed the ambulance and no one has returned.
I feel so badly for them.
hi! 2 all the American folks here!
It must be really cold in ur country now.
India is still nice an warm!
I really love the American culture.
The people in America are friendly and very welcomming and it is among the very few places in the world where i will feel completely at home. And what?... I would really love to see ur country during christmas....(heard a lot about it!)
Merry Christmas to everybody!!
Welcome.
The family I have asked prayers for are from India. Not sure of what part.
Welcome. North America is a big country and the weather varies greatly from North to South and East to West.
It is about 20 degrees (F) here this morning and the wind is blowing making the tempature seem to be about 5 degrees (F). I guess I will wear a coat today.
I'm leaving now and will return this evening. I hope you will visit us here often.
Welcome and a very Merry Christmas to you.
I agree with your point and it all may well be true.
However, given how the media operates these days, I don't accept their allegations as true at this point. I find it nearly impossible to believe that all the things they are saying about Kerik slipped through the FBI vetting process.
If the FBI is that sloppy, we're in bigger trouble than I thought.
Feel free to ask us stuff ... we'll do our best to explain, though there may be a delay. We pop in and out as we can with our busy schedules. Just be patient with us and we'll try to help you.
Thank you Gengis Khan. Welcome to "our" world. We do have some interesting conversations here and a lot of news. America is a "one of a kind" of country. Anyone from anywhere in the world can come here, become a citizen and be an American, whereas other countries will always call the newcomer by their previous country. You can say we are the vegetable soup of the world.
Good Morning All. Beautiful coooool day in central Texas.
Very interesting thread!
Does anyone know what crimes would have been covered in his pardon? I would assume that crimes committed after the pardon would not be forgiven but what about those committed prior to the pardon but not known about at the time? Is that a really stupid question?
Two words: Zoie Baird.
The New York media is out to take Kerik down...and my guess is supported by the American Spectator, which says that democrat operatives ahve been planting these stories around town because they are afraid Kerik will run for governor of New Jersey or a high office in New York.
BTW - It is NOT a Post world exclusive. It was reported by moi in this space about a week ago that Marc Rich's name popped up on numerous shipping manifests associated with Iraqi Oil in the oil-for-food scandal. A pajamahadein's work is never done...
Anyway, pardons are retrospective, not prospective, generally. There is a fine distinction there, and we can look to Ford's pardon of Nixon in that regard. That particular instance granted a pardon for any crimes that may have been committed, or that may come to known to have been committed, with relation to the Watergate break-in, its subsequent cover up, and anything related to the aforemetioned two items. Essentially, that stopped all investigations dead cold in their tracks--and, if you recall, the press squeal was intense, and it can be argued the pardon was why Ford was never elected President by the American people and we ended up with Jimmah.
But while there was some "prospective" aspects to that particular pardon, it still dealt with activities that occurred wholly in the past.
There is no provision for granting a pardon for activities that may not yet have been done, as there would be no way of ascertaining what those activities might include. Thus, the instances of what Marc Rich has done now are "new" and could not have possibly been handled under UOx42's pardon.
It also appears that the money funneled to Rich helped fund the UOx42 library. Hmmm.
I plead ignorance to knowing exactly what he was pardoned for and whether it was for all crimes he may have committed at any time in the past or was it for specific acts and those things only related to them.
I'm not explaining myself very well ... *sigh*
Let me try an example: John Doe had been convicted of bank robbery and received a presidential pardon. Later it was found out that he had also committed a murder, completely unrelated to the robbery. Would that also be covered under the pardon or would only things related to the bank robbery be wiped off the slate?
