FREEPER FAMILY TABLE--Thanksgiving recap
me | The Day After...oy vey! | grellis

Posted on 11/26/2004 6:47:07 AM PST by grellis

I am going to keep it really simple today--I don't know about you folks but I am still digesting and I have relatives returning any moment. Here are a few queries...

How was your Thanksgiving?

Are all of your relatives liberal democrats?

What is your all time favorite Thanksgiving dish?

What is the worst Thanksgiving dish you have ever eaten?

Did anyone else get snow this week? 8^)

Why are you answering these silly questions when you should be out shopping?

What is the airspeed velocity of an African Swallow? European?

Can anyone lend me some Tums?

You went to Wal-Mart TODAY???????? Are you nuts, lady????

Earlier today hubby said he needed to go back out to get something for one of his tools and I asked him where was he going to go for it. He answered "I guess Wal-Mart"........I just looked him straight in the eye and reminded him it was Black Friday........"It can wait until next week" was the response.

Annyokie, speaking of mailmen, my parents live in a "neighborhood" that has all those restrictions about what you can and cannot do. My Dad makes calls to UPS, FEDEX, (and me) on a regular basis to see who has drove on the precious blades o' grass.

Well, my parents recently had new neighbors move in across the street from them. About 3 weeks ago, the new neighbors brought in a huge RV and parked it in their driveway.

My parents have their house up for sale right now, and so this irritated my Dad to no end. He ranted about what an eyesore this was and that the RV detracted from the "overall appearance in the neighborhood".

Last week, the neighbors were trying their best to get their RV backed out of their driveway; the husband was driving while the wife was guiding him. Turned out the wife was not too good at giving directions. The neighbors backed across the street and into my Dad's yard twice before my Dad went out to back it out for them. From what I gathered from my Mom's version of this episode, a lot of neighborly gestures were exchanged before the new neighbors' RV was on the street headed out.

When we went to my parents house yesterday, I noticed an RV parked at the house right next door to them. Needless to say, this will be an interesting winter!

Now that is funny! Kind of sounds like how I mow! If a bush is in my way, just cut it, that way it won't be there next time!

I still do not understand the directional mowing thing yet, but I guess there is a reason in "yard care logic".

I love supplying a laugh!!!!

I have no clue when it comes to the directional mowing thing, nor does my husband......as long as it is cut is all that matters.

My ex was the epitome of anal-retentive..........I was happy if he only ran the vacuum 5 times a day.

I'm much more of the I'll do it tomorrow type.

I'm so happy you asked!!!!!

There is this whacko woman in CanaDUH that is totally obsessed with nearly everything I say here on FR.

My "notes" are just a reminder to her that she can take anything I say here and post it out of context on other message boards, but folks here don't take her seriously.

Well, I could pick this to bits, but to keep it simple, a person from Canada is enough said.

NOTE TO WACKY CANUCK: Leave this FReeper alone. Stalking is a crime in the United States. hehehe.

It gets better.......she claims to be in Vancouver, but isn't.

She also claims to be a US citizen......ROFL

She's not only a Francophile, but an Anglophile ----- at least she claims she is.

"drunk cowboy" is one of the nicer thing she calls President Bush.

I could go on, but it's not necessary.

Wow! Now this could almost be a novel! I'll admit, I am nosy, so I just have to ask if this is an escapee from the town of DUmmyville? I stopped in over there once and it was a scary place.

I would guess if you have one of those DU Loons following you, it may not last too long, because stalking requires REAL WORK.

NOTE TO MOOSE-HEAD STALKER: Don't bad mouth the President. It's not not good for the digestion.

To be perfectly honest with you the residents of DUmmyville actuall make more sense than this loon. She's been following me around the net for more than 4 years.

I look at the entire situation in the context that if some people are attacking me because of a position I take on an issue, it is one less issue they may be using to attack others.

Our Thanksgiving was very nice. We moved to the Sierra's in late June, and my family came up here for our feast. The weather was beautiful, the mountain sky was blue, and some of us ate on the deck enjoying the scenery. We had the traditional dinner with the Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and giblet gravy, and way too much dessert! I had never made stuffing before, so I was quite proud that it turned out so well! (pat on back!)

I can't say enough good things about a boxer, especially with children. My husband wants me to point out, however, that if anyone wants a dog that will just lie down and relax... get something else! Boxers are very high energy, as you've no doubt read. With children, I'd say that's a plus. Mine were (and our remaining one is) still like a puppy. My only real concern with mine was that they jumped up a lot (they can be trained out of this, I'm sure, but I was never successful at it). So the only real risk to children was that mine would bowl them over... then they'd lick them as much as possible! So if there were children (or adults) they didn't know, the excitement would take over and they'd overwhelm you with love. But they were wonderful with our son, especially given that they were six when he was born and had not had daily exposure to children before. The funniest thing they would do is give "boxer hugs." If you are kneeling or at their level, they will jump up and actually get their paws around your neck (the better to reach your face for licking). I'm so glad my dog had that time with my son, because I think they were always disappointed not to have their own child before... they used to have to make do with neighborhood children. My girl loved having her own little boy. She patiently withstood all the toddler poking and prodding and just loved him completely.

Yes, it will be memorable! But it could have been worse. When we discovered the first leak, apparently it had started slowly then burst suddenly, and I was away for a week, a very hot week in June, so the water was disgusting and soaked into everything stored under the sink, including pans whose depth hid the extent of the damage. That was just gross. This was fairly new and clean water from the 'rinse' side of the sinks and appeared to have started that day. The seal on the repaired pipe failed. Of course, I had just started the dishes and had a mountain to go through! It was time consuming and I had to dump basins of water out back - how terribly white trash, our snooty neighbors must have thought! - but it took only a couple hours from start to finish and we didn't have to call a plumber!

My husband did virtually all of the cooking for the dinner we hosted. We counted on one of my siblings to bring at least a pie--one pie, that's all! No such luck.

Dessert was leftover Halloween candy!

Is this wacky Canuck a FReeper? Do you know her screen name?

I'm Sicilian, you know. A bloodline with perks, in fact.

ROFLMPJO!!!!

No, this woman is not a FReeper - heck I don't even think the DU'ers would want her!!!!

Some time back one of her psycho-phants on the other boards was lamenting about getting kicked off FR..........I believe it happened to him 3 times!!!!! It was so obvious what he was doing, that others noticed it........the only posts he made in his various reincarnated forms were on threads I was on, and 99% were directed to me.

There are 2 things these people and those like them can't handle - people who disagree with them, and being laughed at by people who disagree with them. I fit both categories!!!!!
