AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1397) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | November 17, 2004 | All of Us

Posted on 11/17/2004 4:33:22 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Hopefully this is not the foreshadowing of a recurrence of a bad dream...

RECOUNT OF PRESIDENTIAL BALLOTS WILL OCCUR IN OHIO...

...STORY HERE

This recount is being demanded and financed by Libertarian and Green Party wackos in the Buckeye State.

In Iraq, terrorists are vowing the current round of violence is only the beginning of what American troops will face. (EN--At the current KIA ratio, they'd better hope it's a short story...)

NASA's X-43A aircraft reached Mach 9.7 in a flight yesterday.

ABC aired a racy promo of Desperate Housewives just before Monday Night Football a couple of nights ago. Viewers have complained, the NFL has said it was inappropriate, and the network has apologized.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

NASA failed. Only M9.7 ... bummer

We have to stop funding such useless agencies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRAIRIE!

What a great way to start the day... and to have a great President as your President for another 4 years.

Just don't get much better, unless you get a certificate from Sean Hannity to Ruth's Chris's Steak House...

Whhooooeeeee....

Chair,

Am still trying to figure out what the point is to do a recount?

What do they expect to find?

And to do it after the votes are certified in December even seems more folly to me.

Nice sandwich. I thought it looked like a red-headed Shirley Temple, though. Or was it the Blessed Virgin posing as Shirley Temple?

Dolly, that pic I just came across was from a one-week trip I made to Bali where I taught Cultural Anthropology to a group of young Indonesian (and Brunei and Korean) missionaries. The shirt was a gift from the students and is still hanging in my closet. So hard to know when to wear a shirt like that.

From RR's Farewell Speech:

"Countries across the globe are turning to free markets and free speech and turning away from the ideologies of the past. For them, the great rediscovery of the 1980's has been that, lo and behold, the moral way of government is the practical way of government: Democracy, the profoundly good, is also the profoundly productive.

When you've got to the point when you can celebrate the anniversaries of your 39th birthday you can sit back sometimes, review your life, and see it flowing before you. For me there was a fork in the river, and it was right in the middle of my life. I never meant to go into politics. It wasn't my intention when I was young. But I was raised to believe you had to pay your way for the blessings bestowed on you. I was happy with my career in the entertainment world, but I ultimately went into politics because I wanted to protect something precious.

Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: `We the People.' ...

Lately, during birthdays of my friends and my FRiends, I am often reminded of this quote, starting with the humorous "anniversary of 39th birthday" line. I submit it for you, and all other ATRW birthday folk - because, not only did President Reagan make a difference, and no matter where we go from here, all of us must realize that we here at FR have made a difference, too. The thank-you letter to FR from John O'Neill and the SwiftVets that was just posted ought to leave NO doubt in any of our minds. We DID help re-elect this President, and I believe that we were in fact instrumental in doing so, though we were only one of many instruments.

The rest of Reagan's Farewell speech is here:

Spectacular links, as usual, Molly. I am starting to read these before I look at the rest of the thread. It really starts my day off right.

I hope that I have you blushing ...

Molly, regarding why we did allow Fallujah last spring to become as we did, a respondent here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1281823/posts?page=17#17 had it just right. That, and the fact that we needed the Iraqis trained and ready to help us clear the mosques to avoid more problems in the future meant it was essential that we have patience in this. It will pay handsome dividends in the future.

I must express respectful disagreement with you about your Powell take, CT, though not for the first time, it is with even more trepedation than usual.

Powell made it known for many years that he was not interested in remaining in government service forever. There was quite some surprise that he even accepted the call for SoS position in '00, and his wife is a major factor in this. Anyone who believes this resignation is somehow "out of the blue" is, I believe, not at all in touch with reality.

I suspect that, if Powell expressed any opinion about this move, it was more like, "Mr.President, I have honored your request to serve and I thank you for the opportunity. There is only one concern I would have about my leaving right now, and that is the recent death of Arafat and the short window we will have to make changes there before that situation becomes embedded in stone again. Are you confident that my successor will be able to get up to speed in time?"

As for his being surprised about Condi being appointed so quickly, I have no information about it, but I suspect that the President told him at that time that Condi would be asked ...

In any event, as I recall, Powell had made it plain from the very beginning that he was only intending to be SoS during the first term. He reiterated that two years ago, and then again a year ago. The Old Media just like the theatre of "political discord" sometimes.

Someday the Old Media reporters will learn to do research again. Well, actually, they may be gone before they get a chance to change.

The Indians have been complaining in S.D. of this low moaning sound coming from the hills on their reservation. The elders went out and found the source, it was little tommy d. moaning over his loss.

The scandal exhibit, called "The Fight for Power,"

It wasn't a fight for power but for JUSTICE.

They still don't get it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I've been celebrating that 39th birthday anniversary for a while now. Going to keep right on celebrating them too!

Just don't get much better, unless you get a certificate from Sean Hannity to Ruth's Chris's Steak House...

It gets better when you've just finished booking hotel and airline to be in DC at the Inauguration / Freeper Ball in January. Which I just did. :^)

Is the "Blue States" pic from x042's Inaugural Parade in 1993? I heard it was FULL of trash like this.
