Why Do I Even Turn the TV to the Today Show?

Posted on 11/12/2004 5:16:55 AM PST by GnuHere

I am absolutely ballistic after "Today" did a story from the White House about Blair's visit - Norah O'Donnell referred to our President at least 3 or 4 times as "Mr. Bush", never once using the word 'President'. B-tch.

I am e-mailing them right after I post this, not that it will do any good.

"Mr. Bush" is not an insult. Suggest you save your rage for something a bit more important.

I noticed Katie was in blakc today, no doubt mourning Arafat. Evidently in her mind it's appropriate to mourn when terrorists die and Republicans win.

Anyone remember what she wore when they buried President Reagan?

I agree it's not an in-your-face insult; I just assume from her language it's a lack of respect innate in the MSM. And don't worry, I have plenty of rage to go around!

President Bush, or Mr. President are appropriate. The entire MSM uses Mr. Bush, but always said President Clinton. While energies might be better spent on more significant issues, I have to agree that this pi$$e$ me off, too.

You probably watch that channel, so you can come up with something to say on FR.

If I wanted "something to say on FR" about the alphabet channels I would have little time for anything else, but thanks for the insult.

You'll get more sympathy and attention from the media com-libs if you email their sponsors and tell them you're changing your buying habits.

The entire MSM uses Mr. Bush, but always said President Clinton.

That's exaggerated. Often the media "President XXXXXX" and then uses "Mr. XXXX" thereafter.

They're calling him 'Mr. Bush' because like the loud-mouth liberals are saying "He's not MY president!"
These are children in adult clothes.

I disagree. I don't EVER recall ANYONE saying "Mr. Clinton".
I can't think of that happening to my knowledge.

Here's a CNN article. Notice the phrase "President Clinton" [gag!!] appears early on, and a few times throughout the article, but then we have a "Mr. Clinton." Many times, though, the article just says "Clinton."

Here's another article where "President Clinton" is used once, then just "Clinton."

President Bush should be pleased he's only being called "Mr. Bush" by this bunch of Dem mouthpieces.

"Mister" is a highly respectful term. Also, if a style is adopted and applied consistently, then what's the problem? For example, did anyone flip when Clinton was also referred to as "Mr."?

Egads! I typed that earlier, but I guess I just sent it now...after others had pointed out how Clinton had been addressed. Oops.

But I can add that I was a newspaper editor back then, so I know for sure that he was addressed the same way our current president is being addressed, under AP style (though I didn't use AP style for my newspapers, many of our competitors did--and I had to retrain new editors to our style.)
