Those of you familiar with the Geology Picture of the Week probably know that I have a penchant for volcanic activity. And I was going to do something else this week, but that was until I looked at the most recent photos from Grimsvotn. The one I'm posting is truly amazing. So I decided to put up a couple other pictures from current volcanic activity, and next week I'll do something that is NOT igneous, I promise!

umm and to think some believe humans cause global warming
Thanks for posting these great pictures every week!
Love the Kilauea photos - it's really been a treat the past 10 years. Of course when the trades die and humidity increases we're treated to vog, which apparently was pretty high yesterday. My eyes don't like the stuff any more than they did California's smog.
You're welcome! Glad you like 'em.
We've been living with an active volcano for nearly twenty years by now. If we listened to the "it's not if but when" doomsday prophets, we'd all shoot ourselves long ago. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, etc., is all part of life. At least we don't have to deal with terrorists, thanks to President Bush.
I always enjoy the volcano updates, as well as the others you include. Both times I went to Hawaii, the Big Island and the Volcano National park was my favorite site.
I think the KYOTO agreement would outlaw all this activity...
