I've heard, and read about the Firefox browser for awhile now. After an attempted browser hijack today I decided to give it a try. I must say I'm very impressed.

It has alot of features that Microsoft's Internet Explorer doesn't have, and the best part; It's ALOT more secure, and FREE.

Normally I don't post things like this (spamming) but this browser is so good I had to spread the word about it.

Anyone interested can get it here Fire Fox

Very rarely use it. It doesn't support opening more than one window in many instances. (The additional windows it "tabs" end up being blank). Plus, you may find that you have to reinstall Java and other plug-ins as they do not cross over from IE.

On the good side, it works better for opening web-based email that has graphics in it. IE sometimes "cleans" the contents of email from some ISPs and I have to reopen in Mozilla.

I use Maxthon. You can find it on http://www.maxthon.com/en/index.htm Much better than IE and it works better with Java than Firefox. Although Firefox isn't bad, Maxthon is a bit better IMHO.

My tabbed bookmarks work fine so far, and no Java issues either. lol the only negative I've found is it makes Drudge look horrible. Not that Drudge's site was all that sexy to begin with though lol.

I'm willing to give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion.

Is it (presumably) impervious to the malicious code that attacks IE?

Thanks.

ROFL! Part of my problem may be that I have an *ancient* (5 years old) computer and am running Windows '98.

I have yet to try Mozilla on my laptop which is newer and runs Windows Millenium.

It's possible there could be a performance issue with my PC.

I use Maxthon.

Maxthon is the former MyIE2. I used to use MyIE2 at work (since company sites don't like Firefox and must have IE) but it was a little stiff. I have since swithced to GreenBrowser and it is MUCH better than MyIE2.

GreenBrowser is so much more configurable AND it does not require installation. It runs completely from one executable. If you want to get rid of it...just delete the directory. This one feature makes it the ideal browser to use on someone else's machine. Load it, run it and when done, just delete it. You should give it a try.
You can get it Here.

GreenBrowser huh? Sure, I'll give it a shot. Especially if you say it's better than Maxthon and Maxthon is pretty good.

Well, I've used them both and for me, Green Browser is a lot more flexible. The Google bar is an automatic feature for one thing. Actually, it's more than a Google bar. It's a Google/Baidu/Yahoo/Lycos/MSN bar. Just click on the down arrow next to the globe icon at the right end of the search bar. You'll see what I mean.

It also lets you organize your favorites in any order you wish instead of being forced into alphabetical order like in Maxthon/MyIE2. You can also configure the tabs to be any color with any color font you like as well as have them at the top or bottom of the window. Can you tell that I love it?

One last thing. When you install it, you will see a green "G" icon floating in the main window. It will stay on top of every window or application you have open. It is there to let you bring GreenBrowser to the front by clicking on it. To get rid of it altogether (I did), just right click on it and uncheck the word 'monitor'.
