The following is from the New York Times on what took place in the Kerry campaign as the Bush victory became obvious to Kerry and the media.

The critical moment came at 12:41 a.m. Wednesday, when, shortly after Florida had been painted red for Mr. Bush, Fox News declared that Ohio - and, very likely, the presidency - was in Republican hands.

Howard Wolfson, a strategist, burst into the "boiler room" in Washington where the brain trust was huddled and said, "we have 30 seconds" to stop the other networks from following suit.

The campaign's pollster, Mark Mellman, and the renowned organizer Michael Whouley quickly dialed ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC - and all but the last refrained from calling the race through the night. Then Mr. Wolfson banged out a simple, two-line statement expressing confidence that Mr. Kerry would win Ohio once the remaining ballots were counted.

The key point to me is the media would bend to the orders of Mellman and Whouley rather than report what the the actual returns proved. It is obvious that Fox bought the spin too. After declaring Ohio they refused to give Bush one of the other sure victory states and declare Bush the victor.

This is absolute confirmation that none of us should ever believe any member of the media again.. that includes Fox. The media including Fox are totally corrupt. They can and are controlled by Democrats.

The internet is the only place to garner information. The media be it Print, TV or Radio can't be believed. Not now .. not likely ever.

The entire media including Fox must be in abject fear of the Democrats. We would be a fools to ever belive anything they publish ... ever again.

I think that the single most disappointing thing on election night, was watching Brit Hume go off the air without calling the race.

Tator and Jane...I remember a comment Brit Hume said at around 2 am....that I thought as odd when he said and now it makes sense.

He said..."Fox would not be making any more calls for Bush until the picture became more clear.

Now the comment makes sense......Fox bowed to the DNC.

Fox had the chance to slam dunk this one.

But they didn't.

I still watch FoxNews, as they are the lesser of the evils in the MSM. However, I am much more selective about WHICH programs I watch.

Fox and Friends is good for some light-hearted stuff in the morning while getting ready for work. I have alot of respect for Linda Vester, and her show. I like SEAN, he has never sold out.O'Reilly is a joke, he was really slanting towards Kerry until he found out he wouldn't appear on his program.

This is all stuff that CT has told me time and time again. I have my own opinions, but I think more with my heart. He thinks with his head, and thank goodness I have him to help me sort all this out! He knows the news media so well, as he has been there. All I know is that I will continue to get the truth here on Free Republic.

Can you imagine the cry of bias and "trying to effect the outcome," by the MSM if Fox had called the win for Dubya and none of the other networks followed suit...Then Kerry calls out the moveon.org protesters and litigation and questions of illegitimacy for 4 more years? I think Fox made the right decision as did Dubya by letting Kerry concede. Fox did not want to be the only station calling it for Dubya...it would have hurt their ratings. I think that ratings should be Fox's #1 concern, not calling the race for one party or the other.
