Word For The Day, Thursday, November 4, 2004
Thursday, November 4, 2004 | Slip 18

Posted on 11/04/2004 4:17:28 AM PST by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

New WFTD:

Antinomy– noun

This word is pronounced an-tin-emee

Etymology: French or German.

1) Opposition of one law or rule to another law or rule: contradiction within a law.
2) obs An opposing law or rule of any kind: a law that contradicts itself.
3) (a)a contradiction between two philosophical principles each of which is taken to be true or between inferences correctly drawn from such principles.
(b) A statement embodying an antimony: paradox.
4) An apparent or real opposition, contradiction, contrast or conflict.

Good morning, Slip!

After three years of noise and bluster.
The Left still just does not "Get it".

A campaign, antiginous,disgusting and fetid.
Turned rancid and sickening on the Masses.

The voters decided to kick some A$$es.
And the Dems got beat on like Custer!

Jack.

Our two dogs are about nineteen lbs. Small enough. Wish I had staff to walk these two like Laura.

Naked Man (mentally unstable Canadian) Tries to Hide in Plane Wheel Well

Was Argh in Los Angeles, and what was he doing there? (I have to admit, at first I thought the story was about Alec Baldwin or Larry Flynt trying to leave the country without buying a ticket.)

It looks like Arlen Spector is a walking antimony.

Don't blame me. I volunteered for Toomey.

Our next (R) candidate (and it will not be Bill Owens, much as we would prefer that) will probably be a Social Moderate, meaning that those 4 million Evangelicals may stay home, and will have to be made up from Core Dem constituencies, namely

Why on earth would we want to give up 4 to 7 million votes?

I saw Rich Kasich on Fox News yesterday afternoon. I think he would be a good candidate.

Who's that? Do you mean John Kasich, former congressman from Ohio.

To gain 10...Or more succinctly to keep a Dem from gaining a majority

ItThat is one hell of a gamble. And it could rip this party apart.

I've seen the future (we saw it Tuesday night) and it is good.

And I am not working my ass off for some northeastern liberal Rockefeller Republican. It just ain't happening. At most I'll do just enough to keep my party contacts happy and that is it.

I must confess when the early returns came in an Hoeffel had the big lead I smiled. Plus 3 without Specter is more than +4 with.

No Cabinet decisions yet.

Judges..."No Vac, on SCOTUS, when there is, I'll deal with it, as to the type, you;ve seen the judges I've sent up so far..." paraphrase.

Bush is humble today. He should have spent it with Laura. I hope these ying-yangs show the proper respect today.
