And he's just about my favorite bother, if I had to admit to a favorite. So I want to get him something good! Already ruled out music and books, which doesn't leave much.

Why not get him some drawing supplies to encourage his talent? You could get a drawing tablet, some watercolor pencils, or Micron pens. Clare takes her drawing stuff with her wherever she goes, and just doodles away.
