Depends on the eight year old, I guess! I think I wasn't much older than that if any when I first heard it or even read it myself...can't remember exactly. But I was into books from very, very early on.

There's a nice illustrated edition out there! My brother gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago. Do you think 26 or so is too old for The Hobbit? ;-)

Hi all...

Well, the best thing I have to say about my weekend is, thank God (literally) that my hard drive died on the first weekend without homework I've had all semester.

Yup. Came home Friday, it was dead. Spent an hour on the phone with tech support, got them to mail me a new one. Took the old on to Best Buy in desperate hope they can salvage something. Spent Saturday sitting around hoping the hard drive would be delivered (it wasn't).

So. My best case for NaNo is that I'm four days behind. My worst case is that I only have 4000 words. I hope I'll be able to pick up the hard drive from wherever UPS will take it after failing to deliver, tonight after class.

What utter, utter fun.

We need to get Luke a new "basic" lamp for his room. Right now we're using a hallogen that we'd really like to replace.

I'm thinking of going to Lowes and getting a free standing lampost. Then I'll start reading the "Chronicles of Narnia" to him.

Too old?
