Anyone know the best type of (free or cheap) yet easy to learn architectural design software? I have hand-drawn barn plans that I would like to re-do and play with in an easily editable way.

All I need is that the interface be fairly intrinsic, that it have a scale grid that can can zoom in to work small details or go large, up to multiple acreage in size to lay out design of a farm. I don't necessarily need for it to be architectural drawing level detail, I just want to be able to map out layout of walls and such, possibly in 3D to see basic elevations.

It's neither free nor cheap but the Punch! series of architectural/landscape software is a good value. Does 'plans' and nice 3D renders. Very play-able.

I think I might still have my Broderbund 3D Architect software around. I'll look for it this evening and let you know later.Since we got Chief Architect I haven't used it. It's pretty easy to use, and you can get very detailed with it.

If I find it, I'll send it to you, just send it back when you're done with it cause I was going to let my sister use it to design a house, but she's nowhere NEAR getting ready to do that, yet; probably not for another year.
