The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks for the update 2J. They can do some amazing things with prosthetic limbs these days. One of our pastors has an artificial leg and still enjoys running and golfing.

We'll keep Andy in our prayers.

Let us know if there is some more tangible way we can thank/help him.

If it he had to lose the leg, I'm glad it was below the knee. It will make it easier for the prosthetic, I believe. I'm keeping him and his family in my prayers.

Homemade eggnog is *much* better than teh storebought stuff. At least, that is what I hear. I have never tried the store bought stuff. Making it is not difficult. It just takes patience... and 4 eggs, 1/2 cup rum, 1/2 cup bourbon, 2 cups milk, 1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, vanilla... and you can substitute splenda for the sugar!!! Each serving counts as 1 fat, 1 protein, and 1 dairy.

Evenin'

Back from our neighborhood Christmas walk. Took some pictures. They didn't turn out great, but I'll post a few tomorrow. Me and the Mrs. are gonna watch a movie and wrap Christmas presents.

Did some yard work today. Put in the last of the daffodil bulbs I had. I needed about 2,500 more next year. I'm goin' for this look out back.

Speakin' of which, I got iris and daffodils already coming up.

And, I planned out the space for my square foot garden.

See y'all tomorrow sometime.

Good Morning!

What's gardening, Precious? Nasty snow falling; it freezes, it bites!

'Morning!

I have to plan my garden out and build at least two more planting beds.

Should I watch The Movie again today or should I troubleshoot the 'puter?

Watched The Movie 1-1/2 times yesterday...started at 3:00...first with director/writers commentary, then with actors.

But today is church, and possibly Polar Express IMAX 3D. Been putting that off.

We caught some of the featurettes last night. They were just marvelous. The one about the horses was particularly memorable.

Good Morning Sam; linseed oil was a good choice, the white woods really need to be sealed well and often. I know the young uns will enjoy the bows.

Good Morning OT - Dang, we got some Rosie Cotton type weather today. Gypsy girl's walk was not as long as usual, she didn't seem a bit relucant to head home either.

Watched the director's commentary last night on Disc 1. The question is, do I watch actors disc 1 or directors disc 2 - ah, decisions - decisions.

perhaps another cup of coffee and I'll figure it out.

Morning EGE - snow, a humbug I say. We rarely have a white Christmas around here, which is okay with me, I can put on music and pretend. Beats shoveling and driving in it.

Morning XGI! Morning everyone! Five more days till Christmas! Today I have to go ask God to forgive my excessive materialism/consumerism. It can get a bit silly for me in this season.

Went to my cousin's wedding last night. A VERY pretty wedding and the bride was gorgeous, of course! (The groom is my cousin) Is anyone here Church of Christ, and can they explain to me why they do not use instruments of music in their service? I was told before going that there might not be any music at all, but when we got there, there was an a capella choral group...very nice sounding group, but there are just some pieces of music that NEED instruments, you know? Like "The Wedding Song". I remember that from my folk group days.

Oh well, I have to go.

Okay...that's the plan. Coffee, movie, and I'll start up the hot, spiced cider for later on.
