The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks for the concern. I let it sit until just a while ago and then broke out the broom, newspapers and an old paint brush and cleaned it up.

I'm still mourning for tamales thought.

*sigh* I love tamales. They're the perfect food. You've got me craving them now! :)

Here is the email from my friend...apparently she's lost her voice! Sounds like it was below the knee...

Dear Ones,

Philip just spoke to Chris. I still cannot talk.

Andy's lower right leg was amputated yesterday. Chris (Mom) says that he made the decision. The surgeries to reconstruct/ bone grafts, etc. were not working and would have significantly limited his quality of life. With a prosthetic, he is looking forward to COMPLETING HIS ENLISTMENT (his words), mountain biking, etc. Chris said that because there was healthy tissue left, skin grafts were not required. He had plenty of tissue and skin to wrap the bone, etc.

Chris says that Andy is very, very positive. He is making plans to get well, go through rehab and get on with his life. He keeps reminding Chris and George (his parents) of the others at the hospital that are in so much worse shape. His only shadow was when he talked to his Mom about "girls". He said this would definitely let him know who liked him for him....Can you imagine? Not 21 yrs old for a month yet....

We'll talk to them tomorrow and then hopefully when I have my voice back, I'll have a good talk with Chris.

Please, please continue to pray for them. Chris' birthday is 2 days after Christmas. She has said all along, Andy is her gift. His life.

Thank you for caring about this special family. We all have so much to be grateful for and I am especially grateful for knowing I can count on all of you!

It came, I saw, I enjoyed. It sure made a lot more sense at Isengard and the Black Gate, which scenes seemed the victims of some fairly hashed editing in the theatrical release version.

Outtake of the Mouth of Sauron scene:

Messenger: Is there anyone in this rout with the authority to speak with me? Or with the wit to understand me?

Aragorn: We're from the Union.

Gandalf: We represent the workers of all the magical industries of Middle Earth, both evil and benign.

Messenger: (snarls)

Aragorn: Are you feeling at all degraded or oppressed?

Messenger: I... well, uh, we don't even have dental.

Pippin: They don't even have dental!!

(all laugh)

Cyn is sooo pretty! I love her pictures, especially!

Glad to see they're all getting along so well! Does Bay try to look after Cyn like he does the pony, or does he consider her responsible enough to take care of herself? ;-)

Well, I'm back. Went out to the house to watch a movie of some sort, but Margaret threw a hissy fit because she has to work tomorrow and couldn't stay up...so we're waiting for tomorrow. Instead I spent several hours playing with the fire and trying not to twitch 'cause I'm feeling writing withdrawals. I need a new plot badly. After writing every day since mid October...it doesn't feel right NOT to, even if it's just something lame.

Brought out all the presents I have wrapped so far. I love seeing all the different colored wrapping papers! There's quite a pile out there by now. Most are for the youngest kids, of course. They're STILL having to be reminded not to poke and prod and shake...

I bought eggnog at the store the other day at the request of thegirl and when we got it home she tasted it and decided that she didn't like it...now I get to drink it...let's see, what shall I mix it with?

I'll have to get some tomorrow! Still haven't had any yet this year, and since it's only available for a coupla weeks...should take advantage!

Yeah, I know it can be homemade...but I've never dared attempt it.
