The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I just discovered one advantage of 7 am tests: you're too tired to worry about it. Another hour and a half... gah, I want it to be over!

Very true. Best to get it over first thing so you can stay focused.

There's someone locally who has one that's in those colors, about...but with white, and doesn't have spikey looking stuff...far less prickly looking. It's a convertible. Actually looks really nice!

I have no idea what year it is.

Wow... they'd have to cut a lot of eyelashes to get enough to spin yarn.

Not if they used elves...

It's 2004.

Do you remember your name?

I don't mind some discreetly placed flames...but this one is just a bit much for me.

My neck is sore. We have these bees...I think they're called Mining Bees...they dig these holes in the ground, 'bout as big around as a dime...anyway, we call them "Bee Holes". Well, we also call the jedi's bellybuttons "Bee Holes". I told Joshua that I believed he had a bee in his bee hole and I needed to get it out. Naturally this lead to much tumbling and wrestling around, with much screaming and yelling.

I'm too old. My neck hurts.

Just a warning. We told Nana if she kept doing things that made her ache (like moving boxes and stuff) we'd have to reintroduce the beatings...

I don't think the local one has flames...just a color transition with some sort of flame like shapes.

I know it was in a national Volkswagon magazine! Made the cover even, I think. Wonder if I could find it to point out?

Gah, should have studied but the guy who's leaving showed up so I wanted to chat with him... "leaving" means "going to work on a project down the hall", so I can still steal his anime. At least I'm not so tense.

Half an hour left, and then the test, and then it's all over.

I'm heading out to pick up Stephen and to see if there's any way at all that any of the illustrations will be done in time...

And then we're goin' to that Irish session.

I'm FREE!!! Woo-hoo!!!!

I'll be praying for you. Not much longer, and then you'll be free, too!

I'm FREE! Woo-hoo!

All done! Yay! And the test wasn't too bad, I think I did really well! Of course, a third of the questions were exactly the same as the midterm - he didn't even fix the typos!
