The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Frozen hair isn't so bad. Was part of my routine in college.

Mine too, but that was the 70s.

I just bought the Mrs.' Christmas present online. She's gonna be surprised. I done good.

I like my hair color.

Just wish it wasn't so fine.

I've had a body wave before, and that helps a little...it's not really that I don't have lots of hairs, it's just that they're really, really thin strands.

Oooh... is it a weedwacker?

Grr. Dealing with this one person... he thinks the solution to everything is to install Service Pack 2, and I have to "talk him down" once every couple weeks. Today it was "Adobe Reader isn't working, should I instal SP2?"

Grr.

Actually I can post this safely here. It's tickets to see Tim Conway and Harvey Korman in February.

I actually don't know who either of 'em are...

But if the Mrs. likes it - sounds like a great gift!

I'm pretty sure Tim Conway sings. Or dances. Or tells jokes. But I'm sure I've heard the name. Maybe he's a lion tamer.

That's just absolutely un-American!

Tim Conway and Harvey Korman are two of the funniest people around. They were a regular part of the Carol Burnett Show. Yes, I know, before both of your times.

But it's television and cultural history...and this one you should know...;-)

Who's Carol Burnett? Wait - didn't she have curly orange hair?

I don't like television... and we grew up on Star Trek...

That's not even funny. And Carol Burnett lasted long after Star Trek.

But she wasn't on the Sci-Fi channel in Christmas day marathons, now was she?

Well, I dunno. *Shrug*. But I just never watched tv and I'm pretty clueless on pop culture... I mean, how am I supposed to know about Carol Burnett? Is she on in reruns somewhere?

It's like my grandmother thinks I should know all about the "rat pack" and gets mad when we fall asleep during her showing us the movies.

Whew..... Got the RoTK EE under our belts...

All in all, this movie feels less changed than the additions to FoTR... but the additions are very good... The [censored] is great, and the [censored] stuff was very fun stuff. [censored] is pretty tough to watch, but in a very good way. The new stuff at [censored] on the other hand, is a good new time to take a potty break. ;~D

On now to listen to the PJ commentary next.... So many special features, so little time!
