Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I guess I'm the stereotypical security mom...but my kids seeing that ARNG unit and knowing that those guys are right there just north of us makes them feel safe, and that makes me feel good. I'm the white-knuckler...I don't want them to be.

*yawn* g'mornin'...oh wait...crap!
Saw theeyedoctor this mornin' to be fitted fer contacts. Doin' fine within 'em so far. Gotta take 'em out in about an hour.
Then boss took our office to lunch fer Christmas.
Got a major haircut yesterday (post production shave and a haircut...2 bits). She kept cutting with scissors and saying "is that short enough?"...finally she said "do you want me to use the clippers"...um, yes, that's what I asked for.
But I needa new hat. It's cold outside.
Got new shooooooooes of power. All's right with the world.

Oh!! I just figured it out! The Cuban Missile Crisis! He was studying that yesterday, I bet that is what it was.
I told him that we used to have "bomb drills" when I was a kid, where we crouched under our desk...but that Steve didn't. I showed him Houston on the map and Silver Bay Minnesota on the map and their relation to Cuba. I said "See why we had bomb drills but Dad didn't?"
He's happy we're in the center, not near the coast...I bet that's what brought it up.

Head-hair is a good thing in cold weather. Except that I can't shower in the mornings after October. My hair takes hours and hours to dry, and even using a hair dryer takes forever... so it'd freeze, if I went outside.
Heh... I keep debating what to do about it. Don't tink I want to cut it but I need a few more styles. Or just more hairsticks, maybe.

. so it'd freeze, if I went outside. Frozen hair isn't so bad. Was part of my routine in college.

*sigh*
I wish I had hair thick enough that it would take hours to dry!
I really dislike my hair.

My curls would be frozen solid by the time I made it to south campus. Kept 'em curly, tho!

Ugh. I ate something really bad at lunch - like something that should have had more refrigeration. Am trying to think of a gracious way to go home.

With the superduper cold we get here, you can throw drops of water in the air and they'll freeze before hitting the ground.
Interesting fun. But cold.

Oh yeah, the Happy (RamaHannaKwanzMass) Holiday party was splendidly dull. Except for my tummyache.

Everyone's unhappy with what she doesn't have, right? I mean, I love my haircolor so much I pay to keep it that way... ;-)

Everyone's unhappy with what she doesn't have, right? Yup. I buy my curls. Could care less what the fashion currently is. *big grin*
