The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I am not too sure how well equipped our local library is.

Check to see if your local library is part of a system that allows inter-library loans. I've gotten books from as far away as Amherst, through our library. I can even get some books from some college libraries! I request titles online through the system website and have them delivered to our local library. VEY convenient!

Good Morning Sam - The board bow is a great way to introduce newcomers to wood bow building and traditional archery. Ferret has done a great service by publishing all the "how-to" pages on his website.

Good Morning Hair - I believe Gidget's behavior is called 'resource guarding'. Generally happens when someone new comes into the picture, but that was some-time ago. Could be something new or a 'delayed' reaction. Dogs are great.

Yeah - it seems a little late for 'get-between' behavior!

~chuckling~

Maybe I think it is so funny because I came out on top. I wish we could have filmed it. :~D

Morning SuziQ - I wonder how long it will be until Sam decides to build a trebuchet. :-)

And apparently a funkle.

I'd like to have a trebuchet for my balcony. I could hurl rocks at the roaming geese of doom.

Getting excited about going home for Christmas? Have you done all your shopping, or are you gonna wait and get stuff at home so you don't have to haul it on the plane? That's what I suggested that David do. He'll be home next Thurs., so he has a week to do shopping here. I also suggested that if he ordered anything online, just to have it shipped here. Works either way!

I'm almost done shopping. I f33r the m3llz of d00m, see... hordes of undead shopping 3vil at this time of year.

I just got everyone small presents - books, cds, a pin for my grandmother. I'm planning to take a small carry-on case full of presents, my backpack with computer, and check my suitcase. It won't be bad. I need to start wrapping, though...

Yeah, I'm excited. I get home Saturday next.

Yep. Needed something to mix the egg into.

Well....been rassling with pipes and valves all morning.

The good news....I got the old fittings off and the new ones I bought fit.

The bad news....it leaks. Guess I'll have to play around with the plumbers' tape again. Maybe I should just go grocery shopping instead.

Check out THIS video done by the BBC (surprisingly!). GREAT footage of some of the Marines fighting in Fallujah.

I've done all my shopping online! It's GREAT! Actually I have to go to Wally World to get one more thing, but that won't take long. I have to start wrapping, too, but first I have to clean all the frap off my craft/cutting table in the basement. I set that up each year so that whoever needs to wrap stuff can do it. I put all the wrap, tissue, bags, ribbon, tags, tape and scissors in one place. Makes it easy for everyone. ;o)
