The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I get bored writing things down, too. I already know the story anyway, after all...

LOL! Exactly! And telling it gets soooo tedious!

Yup! If I thought I could sell these stories... or if I had an audience, it would be easier.

I'd be happy to be an audience, for what that's worth...

I finished what you have so far!

I am thinking I will try to do the NaNoWriMo next November. I am hoping to finish the graphic novel thingy by next spring.

Am Listening to Thomas Tallis (again!) - that bit of music alone makes me want to write. I need to go to the music store and find some good classical pieces.

Am hoping the secret service agent that died in today's crash WAS NOT the one that I have some familiarity with. His mother was my theatre teacher in high school. Of course, I am very sad for those families who did lose their loved ones in the crash, but the selfish part of me hopes it wasnt my former teachers son. She and I are good friends, and she has already lost her husband last year without warning.

You're on next Nov's ping list, along with Talon and several other unwitting victims...

I hope it's not your acquantance's son... is it likely to be?

I didnt start crying until the end.

One of my favs is the charge of the Rohirrim as well! ~ That, and when Eowyn confronted the Nazgul.

and of course, the moment when Gandalf is telling Pippin about death. I think that scene is on par with the moment when Gandalf is talking to Frodo in Moria. It was more in line with how I saw Gandalf's and Pippin's friendship as it developed in the books.

Can't wait for extra Faramir bits...!!! Nummy!!

Thanks for putting me on the ping :D!

I am hoping it isnt, but Miz 'S' as we called her told me he was one of the SS detail for #41. I dont know anything beyond that.

It would be such a blow to her, if it were.

Hi, Alkhin! Sent you a sketch by email last night.

I used to work with a retired Secret Service agent who ran our bank's security department. He was on the White House detail under LBJ and Nixon, if I recall correctly. Really nice guy who was very skilled at making people feel relaxed around him. Whenever our department did a job for him he would buy bagels for everyone the next day :) But if a security situation came up he could also play "bad cop" very well. I remember typing a memo for him describing an incident where he was sent to handle a customer being rude to a female employee. . .He hosted a security seminar where my martial arts teacher gave a presentation on hand-to-hand techniques and the psychology of managing confrontations. Interesting guy. I think he's retired and moved to a ranch in North Dakota or thereabouts now.

While scrolling through the posts I came across this from 2Jedismom :

Plus a half a cup of raw almonds, a cup of frozen blueberries and several cups of black tea...(supposed to have 5 cups according to some study...I fit in what I can.)

An article that I read on FR from a study from the AMA said that blue berries were good for lowering bad cholesterol and raising good cholesterol. Even more effective that the prescription stuff. So eat lots of blue berries!

To HairOfTheDog:

Steve called last night, as a matter of fact he called several times. We kept getting cut off, both of us on cell phones.Anyway he was telling me what a great time he had. Many thanks to you your brother and husband and EVERYBODY here for caring so much about my son and his fellow soldiers, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.

I have been praying for his safe return for more than a year now and will spend at least another year in giving thanks that he is home safely and giving thanks to the special group of people at the Hobbit Hole who care so much..

I didn't go through all the posts to list everyone concerned in the address bar of this post because I am basically lazy but you all know who you are and you are very special to me and my family..

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
