The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You can't shoot them g'nad, they're nice folk, and your daughter would love it!

The first or second week of June at g'nad's for shootmoot sounds good for us! Has anyone said they ~can't~ make it then?

Define "first" or "second"...are we talking the first full week?

Sunday, June 5 through Saturday June 11 - I could make it. Family would be questionable. Depends on Jr's school status.

Sunday, June 12 through Saturday June 18 - No can do. FWIW that's the only week in May or June when I am completely out of the picture.

Could we think of backing it up a week to May 29 through June 4? That would include Memorial Day and a three-day weekend.

Heh.... well, probably neither of those exact periods.... I am just assuming here, but we thought it'd probably a long weekend.

ecurbh just put a new poll up at Here and I voted...

we meant the first full week, 5-11 June...

we could do 29 May, but we'd have to re-arrange on this end, but that's okay...

Stinky, can you freepmail me yer address so I could figure out drive time? We may be better off flying this time.

That's okay. Memorial Day would still be tricksey for me.

Was just thinkin' if we fly, Jr. wouldn't have to stay the whole time...

Where would one fly in? And if you're willing, ditto on the address - I'm not sure what my better plan would be, fly or drive.

Just figure in Lebanon Missouri for Mapquest...

you can fly into Springfield, MO... the closest major airport is St Louis, approx 2 hour drive...

you might be able to fly into Kansas City, and talk Osagebowman and Overtaxed intuh haulin' yer carcass down here...

We have Branson, Silver Dollar City, Six Flags Meremac Caverns, Fantastic Caverns, Wineries unders two hours away, most just over an hour...

great trout fishing, canoeing or float trips 20 minutes away...

range facilities on the premises...

I'll have to check our family's schedule. Clare, Joseph and I could possibly come, but I also need to check with the Girl Cousins to see when our reunion is going to be next year.

Good morning everyone!

Either one will work for me! Just let me know which airport I should fly into and what days to arrive and depart and I'll get my ticket! *grin*

I'll bring my video camera so we can watch the Entmoot video. If the g'nads' have a VCR, I can easily make VHS tapes for anyone that wants one!

Hey Rosie... I was thinking about your story problem. What if you suddenly had your heroine kidnapped by aliens and taken on a galactic tour? Wouldn't her diary be more interesting? Or kidnapped by rogue Russian spies who think she holds some secret, or something? Do you have to keep it to "diary of a person who doesn't do much exciting"?

Or kill her and have the diary continued by her more-interesting sibling.

Well, yeah, but that's not my fault.

Friday... it's Friday... another two hours here, then an hour in class, then to the doctor's, then home.

Well...that was the original idea. Of course, this being NaNoWriMo, I COULD do something completely insane, but that wasn't the original plan.

I did plan to have her meet Mr. Right, but other than that, was going to have her be fairly normal.

It's still early enough that I COULD probably even trash the whole idea and start over, but I dunno how.
