The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, I guess I'll learn which of the ladies is off-limits, eh? ;]

Don't worry, if you check out to be nice and worthy, we'll be throwing the single ones at you as fast as you can catch them!

NaNo Wammy - dare I ask??? :]

But, I thought all the Old Winyards was polished off in the first book, though. By Frodo himself, unless I'm very much mistaken...

Unless, of course, it's a private stock???

Don't diss my crap! I've got 23,000 words of it right now, and at least 300 aren't crap because I stole them from Shakespeare. Mwahaha!

OW, WOW, COOLNESS!!!

A writers' forum! MARVELOUS!

I write Fantasy! I have a full-size novel already in Manu, and its sequel in progress, and I do a LOT of poetry and shorts!

I've had over a dozen refusals on the manu, though, and gave up long ago...

We're not all writers but everyone here puts up with our drivel. (At least, so far. The anime discussions have apparently gotten on people's nerves, though, so we really try to keep those to a minimum)

Yeah. Let's see. RosieCotton, Overtaxed, Lil'Freeper, Alkhin, Corin Stormhands, TalonDJ, Rose in Rosebear and I all have literary aspirations. Or we like to write crap. Or we have written crap in the past, at least.

The Hobbit Hole is sort of a... mutual admiration and support society. Hang around for a week and you'll figure it out.

Well, I am needing a nap, I think. Worn out from manual labor.

Talk to you all later!

Boy...I leave for a few hours and people start a party without me! Welcome to the Hobbit Hole, Dutchman!

So...are you Air Force, then? I was, once upon a time. Been out a few years now, though.

Jen - I've been running around all day and haven't had a chance to read any more of your story, but I will!

I'm roasting that turkey breast. Yes, I'm fully aware I'm likely to be sick of the stuff in the not-too-distant future...but for now, it smells wonderful! Almost done, in time for a kinda late dinner.

And we went to see "The Incredibles" today! I thoroughly enjoyed it, for the most part. Heh...Disney's name just did NOT fit on that movie. I thought it was darned conservative as far as the message and morals went.

Watching "master and Commander" with a couple friends.

I really should get back out there.

Same thought I had re The Incredibles. What a fun movie, a good movie, a movie where the parents weren't made to look like idiots (hey! Disney just put out a movie with an intact family! Hell hath frozen over.)

I am now officially caught up on my story, thanks to my producing 11k in two days. Um. Not sure how that happened.

I'm on schedule, at least. I wrote close to three thousand words yesterday...not good ones, but hey, that's not what counts for NaNo. ;-)

But I still wanna get back to my other story. I think I'm going to work that in in the way we discussed, but I haven't done it yet.

Re: The Incredibles...I was particularly impressed that they didn't make the father into a bumbling idiot. That's wayyyyy too common in movies and shows nowadays. Instead, he was the head of the family. Cool...

OK, just waiting for the last few things to finish and then we're gonna eat!
