In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
schadenfreude \SHAHD-n-froy-duh\, noun:
1. A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.
If self-replicating e-commerce baby tycoons get on your nerves, it's schadenfreude time. It's true that the Nasdaq rebounded after its staggering loss Tuesday. Nonetheless, what AP described as "the most volatile day ever for U.S. stocks" left a distinctly bearish aftertaste.
--"Market Motion Sickness." The Industry Standard's Media Grok, April 5, 2000
Etymology: German, from Schaden, damage + Freude, joy. It is often capitalized, as it is in German.
TOPICS: Education; Humor; Poetry; Word For The Day

GWB not only won at the polls, he also had to overcome flagrant fraud, the lefty media cabal, the UN meddlers, Osama's October "surprise", and the b!tching of countless pinhead foreign leaders.... 'Twas quite a victory, IMHO.
The next dim that needs a political a$$-kicking is Governor Fast Eddie Rendell of PA, who personally coordinated - or at least condoned - multiple levels of voter fraud.... felons voting, suppressed military ballots, pre-loaded voting machines, etc.

Sing to the tune of the Beatles, "Yesterday":
Schadenfreude
It's what got the Freepers overjoyed
Even with Dem lawyers to be deployed
Why I believe in schadenfreude......

Just finished IM'ing with a dem friend in Delaware.....he thinks Kerry will concede at either noon or in primetime....when I said Kerry should have conceded last night his response was:
nah. It's good they've kept it going...the tact should be concede and ask unity and support for what's a difficult situation we'd rather not be in, but we are in and need to solve.
That of course would be the gentlemanly thing to do, and we know kerry is no gentleman.
My friend quickly changed the subject to the Gov's race. LOL!

The definition may be wrong. It's defined as:
A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others. I think, in this event, it's a delicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.
