I suppose in the absense of "early" voting I could have voted absentee. I'm not sure how that process works and whether or not you can get an absentee ballot on short notice.
it works elsewhere, like i said. the potential for fraud, to me, vastly outweighs the convenience factor. maybe if you lived in a state that was more riddled with Dem fraud you would see that, but TX is probably pretty safe from that. Can you imagine in PA, early voting? more time for the union goons to pump out fictitious voters. i hate to say it, but i fear that my dearly departed union belonging Dem Dad is probably voting for Kerry this year. and as i told xsSIL, since my dad's FINAL address before he passed away was my brother's address in OH, he may be voting for Kerry THERE TOO!!!!
This may have changed when they instituted early voting - for example if you were going to be out of town on election day, you may have been allowed an absentee ballot - not sure.
I have no idea why we have early voting and they don't in the Northeast......... but at least with early voting they get to see you in person, whereas with absentee ballots ANYONE could mark it and return by mail........so I would think early voting would cause less fraud than absentee.
