Yes I know, just one more vanity to wade through. Sorry.

Hmm,don't know what you are reading my friend. I can't say I share your opinion. I've seen plenty of good stuff, and yes,,some handwringing. We have quite a diverse group. I'm a new member so don't let me be the spokesperson.
Are you feeling discouraged?
To: ShandaLear
In the past few weeks we've been inundated with a mass of conspiracy theories, hand-wringing doom sayers, and vanity after vanity. You were OK until you got to the point of bitching about too many vanities by posting another vanity.

It'a Presidential Election.
This time it's for keeps.
To: ShandaLear
Election season. Par for the course, especially this one where both sides have so much tied up in it emotionally.

What is Going on at Free Republic (Vanity)It's called free speech!
Happens every election cycle.
I remember 2000 and 2002 were like this.
To: ShandaLear
Its a close election....there is usually vote fraud on one side....the Democratic candidate is worse than Clinton. Those three things are enough to concern anybody greatly.

It's a stressful, eventful period, this election season, and a lot of that fills the posts.
That, plus the notoriety FR has achieved following the SeeBS incident, has brought in a lot of newbies that are responsible for many of the content-free vanities, and quite a bit of the trolling.
And I'm doing my best to keep the signal-to-noise ratio as low as possible with my useless, inane comments. :-)
Uuuuunnnnnnghh.

Better stock up on 'Happy Pills'.
It might get worse after the election when the lawsuits start.

People are worried and reacting to it in different ways. Some are trying to frighten others into voting. Personally I'm an optimist.

In the past few weeks we've been inundated with a mass of conspiracy theories,
hand-wringing doom sayers, and vanity after vanity.
Tighten your seat-belt...if you were actually not in the forum in the fall of 2000.
And consider this: I suspect the volume of actual news reports and substantive
thread is not down...it's just that with a significant election cycle, the vanities
and personal reports on the election do take a big rise.
And without letting those "extras" into the forum for further analysis (to weed
out the lesser contributions)...we'd never have a chance to connect with
the thread that seems to be "too weird to be true" at first blush...but ends up
being the cutting edge of truth in reporting current events.

Obliously you weren't here for the last presidential election.
We here at the Bilderberger Institute always turn our Mind Control SatellitesTM Alien Technologies custom-built amplifiers up to 11 at this time.
So it's only natural that there are more conspiracies posted.

A man was riding his horse down a trail one day and saw a bird laying on it's back with it's legs straight up in the air.
"What are you doing," the man asked bird.
"I heard the sky was falling so I am going to try and catch it."
"Do you seriously think that you can hold up the sky with your spindly little legs,"questioned the man.
"One does what one can,"responded the bird.
