What is Going on at Free Republic (Vanity)

In the past few weeks we've been inundated with a mass of conspiracy theories, hand-wringing doom sayers, and vanity after vanity.

It's getting more and more discouraging to read here which I suppose is what a lot of these posters are attempting to accomplish.

I remember 2000 and 2002 were like this.

It sure was-- particularly in 2000. I remember all the conspiracy theories about Clinton/Reno plans to cancel the elections.

Of course, now after 2000, we have the benefit of hindsight about what lengths the RATS will go to in attempt to steal an election.

No kidding, though getting updates of things happening on the ground & picking apart court rulings, sharing outrage of nasty Dem tactics make FR indispensable during rough times.

I'm in what might turn out to be a hot zone this time around & after seeing what our Florida Freepers did in 2000, I know that getting involved will be better than sitting around & wringing my hands would be.

I freak when I have to drive downtown Milwaukee, mostly cuz I always get lost, but I'm ready to go there if I have to go. So where do I go to get some of those happy pills? :o)

Actually, they are not "conspiracy theories," they are "reasoned hypothesis!"

Kerry has been so dishonest with America by concealing so many documents and records while claiming integrity that he has left us with nothing to evaluate.

This "trust me, trust me" barbra streisand is getting old. We can't evaluate his Senate Committee voting records because he won't release them, we can't evaluate whether he is a wife beater because he won't release his separation agreement with his previous wife, we can't evaluate whether he is a gold-digging wus because he won't release his pre-nup with his current wife and we can't determine whter the USNR cashiered him for homosexual activity, drugs or treason because he won't release his military records.

Your suggestion that we not read into his deceit and accept his lies is simply not acceptable.

Kerry could knock down most of these conspiracy theories by providing the truth. He continues to dissemble and forces us to build reasoned hypotheses to explain why he is being so dishonest with America.

Well.... the only thing that pi$$es ticks me off about all these Vanities of late, is that they get posted under NEWS instead of CHAT thereby WASTING EVERONES frigging time AND bandwidth, as a stinking thought that pops into your head doesn't necessitate a separate thread. In fact I believe Jim Rob POSTED a reminder to that effect last week.

What is the site for DU? My philosophy when addressing someone who *strongly* disagrees with you (liberals) is to use what some have called the 'Columbo tactic' (from the TV show of the same name). Don't make any assertions. Just state a commonly agreed upon fact, or something you can show is well documented, especially by liberals, then just ask questions. Put the onus on the other guy to refute it. BTW, that can work both ways, but I'm not at all opposed to someone correcting me if I make an incorrect statement. I'd prefer to be corrected than be wrong.

Seriously, you do have a point about all the conspiracy theories. I have come to believe that there is nothing that can be done about them. People will believe what they want to believe, and make up stories to try and prove their point. Maybe these folks are in such poor spirits that they will grasp on to anything, no matter how absurd, to give them hope.
