The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I hope you get it! IF you get skunked there, you can drive down here and I will give you the button upper left here! I'd be happy for you to have it!

The other ones are just stickers

Yeah - it is a little annoyance, isn't it?

Especially since I can see posts, then not see them, then see them again...

Heh...I'd seen a variation on that, but this one is good!

The tone of the joke just reminded me of W's style and personality.

You go!

Heh...I'm feeling a bit self-conscious today because I finally have a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on my van. One of my brothers got some and put them on all of our cars. (Mine's a bit crooked...but I guess it's the thought that counts...)

I work on a college campus, and a LOT of the faculty / students tend toward the liberal side. I'm kinda curious if anything will happen to the ol' van while I'm at work. Not that it's new enough to matter, but...I wonder!

It's also a small enough place that a lot of people know that's my vehicle...and I'm not used to making a statement about myself. So I'm both defiant and a little nervous...

It's not quite as annoying as the fact that I've lost a 54 page document. The latest version I have is only 16 pages.

And I KNOW it was done. I'm sitting here with a printed copy of the larger document.

At least I know what I have to work on this afternoon...sigh...

I'm taking a page from your book and writing a little during the quiet moments here...

Heh...page from my book? In referring to writing? Very cute.

Mmmm...sourdough. Having some as part of my lunch.

Heh... that's why my Bush/Cheney thing is a sign I display in the rear window. When I drive up to campus, I put the sign down... I just can't bear the though of someone keying my car.

I'm gonna steal that one, if you don't mind!

Well, I stole it off my email list, so I don't think I can stop you. And it's not really stealing, it's just ensuring a wider distribution.

Sourdough... I want...

Yeah, a little writing. A slightly science-fiction story with (so far) half a treasure map, a soldier, and a family of nine... three of whom have personalities at this point.

If mine was newer and didn't already have it's fair share of scratches and dings, I'd do the same. As it is...I'm more curious than anything else!

But I was originally planning to get a magnet for just that reason. When Bilbo showed up with the sticker and basically just started putting it on...I said "Well...OK! We'll see what happens!"

Wasn't that a dream, kinda?

Heh...my story now includes a princess in a tower, a magic badger named Edgar and spaghetti-loving goblins. Among other things. It keeps getting weirder, but I guess that's OK...

I'm good, but that's a lot of typing. A lot of it I can cut and paste.

But it's still a pain.

That's how I've come up with many of my ideas...

Even when I was little I wrote stories based on dreams. I'm much more creative when I'm asleep, unfortunately. Wish I was more so when awake!

Heh...that's also part of why most of my current story has come to me during my early morning walks when I'm just barely awake.

Now that I've figured out that it's vaguely SF, rather than mildly fantasy, things proceed much more easily. I'll have to post part of it somewhere if I get anywhere with it.

Do y'all have an air cleaner? We got one of those with the HEPA filter a few years ago, and it has done wonders for cleaning pollen and irritants out of the air. You might think about getting one for your bedroom so that at least the air is nice and clean there for sleeping. Oh, and kick the cat outta the room at night! ;o)

You could always name one of the little snakes "Sammy", and sing the Sesame Street song to him:

"I'm Sammy the Snake and I have to confess that I look and I sound just like the letter 'S'.

I always loved SS's alphabet songs!!
