The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Corin; here's hoping it's starting to fall into place for JR. That is a fine and inestimable looking gathering of Stormhands, though not an ax or helm to be seen.

Thank you!

I have to say, my favorite is Matthew speaking with the commander and the pilot. He's looking them square in the eye. He remembered to say "Yes sir." He knew that was a moment to be at his very best and I think he really did shine!

Good gardening day, got some more daylilies split and planted, 'bout 30. Finished planting the tulips, only about a dozen or so. Put them on the Chanticlare Pear tree mound, amongst the strawberries. Still have the extra daylilies and iris for ya. After the hard freeze will take up the cannas.

It's satellite dish, yeah.

I'm trying to remember, but I think at that age the Blob didn't really scare me, it was just kind of intriguing to think about how you'd try to escape/fight something like that!

I forgot to tell ya! Mr. George (Joshua's Sunday school teacher) got his knife today. I got a picture of him and Joshua with the knife, but it's in the disposable camera. I'll post it when I get it developed.

2J - what a great experience. And great pics. And tell Steve he's just lookin' downright skinny.

Is it Return of the Blob where at the end of the movie someone puts a flashlight on top of the frozen blob and it starts to thaw out?

Didja try hot Dr. Pepper and lemon? Soothing for the throat.

I actually don't think I've ever seen "Return". Sounds like a likely way to start a sequel, though! Kinda like when they thawed out the Frankenstein Monster in that one sequel. Speaking of which, "Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man" was on earlier.

I think that was in one of the Blob movies. They trap it in a skating rink and freeze it over just so some dummy can put a light on it.

I'll tell him! He hasn't lost or gained in a while now, but it still tickles him when someone notices. He got down to 165 (from 210) but he looked gaunt, so he gained up five pounds and looked better. He's been right at 170-171 for a while.

It's on now. I'd forgotten how loud the Technicolor was in this movie. They're sitting in this convertible colored like those old Gremlin cars. I remember the Blob looks the color of raspberry Jell-O.

Raspberry Jell-O is dangerous.
