The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

there's a HUGH slide rule mounted on the wall in the hallway

Sounds like a Weapon of Math Instruction to me!

Wakka wakka wakka!

And on that note, it's back to work.

LOL! Yep!

It's pretty cool, IMO.

A protractor. What's next...a slide rule??

A slide rule, I can use.... we used a round slide rule-type calculator in pilot training to figure ETAs, fuel consumption... any multiplication task.

This... on the other hand....

$90 calculator? Sheesh.

And don't let him tell you he needs a graphing calculator. I took 21 credits of college math and never used one.

Yeah, we bought it last year, when he flunked the first term. He didn't need it in class then and doesn't now.

Sometimes I wonder if teachers get kickbacks from the calculator companies. That would explain why kids can't add...

Yeah. And of course we bought it because we wanted to give him every advantage...sigh...

Gotta go. See y'all at the debate.

Well, I found the protracter...it costs 35 cents at the drug store. Figured I'd get some Little Debbies and the protracter and buy with my debit card...they didn't have any Little Debbies. Joshua had his heart set on Little Debbies. So I dug around in the car looking for 35 cents because there was no way I was gonna pay for a protracter with my debit card.

Joshua found a dime and 2 pennies in his car seat. That was it.

Sigh. So I'm home. No protracter, no Little Debbies.

I swear, I'm gettin' some change and going and getting that protracter if it does me in! And some Little Debbies too, by gum.

Halfacupa Crap

Get a little plastic cup (I use an old plastic yogurt cup) and put a big spoonful of peanut butter in it, put a spoonful of cocoa powder in it, also put some fake honey in (or real, I guess...I use the maltilol honey with zero carbs). I also put a bit of splenda in. Melt it in the microwave till it's runny...I take it out and stir it pretty frequently. After it gets smooth and mixed together, add some oats. I use "Old Fashioned" not the quick kind. Just add as much as you think the mixture will coat.

I think nuts would be good in it too...almonds or pecans...

It's like a soft clump of fudge.

Sigh... I have got to stop going through anime so fast. Finished off Trigun last night. Not entirely sure what I thought of it - but I think I am going to cosplay Milly. Nice easy costume, I even look a little like her, and I felt a strange affinity to her character.

So, what now I wonder? Coworker doesn't have Cowboy Bebop and I'm just too broke to buy anime right now... I'm just lucky he had inherited the Trigun disks from our predecesor, who apparently burned them before it got licensed. No guilt!
