Weird stuff is going on with FR lately :-)
Have a safe trip to wherever you're evacuating. Talked to my sil in Jax today and they aren't sure what they are doing. Traumatized that it would be the 4th hit this summer, I think.
Good luck!
Unless it is like 1978, when the National Guard took half-tracks down my parents road in order to get power company repairmen to the paces they needed to repair, I say Pfui!!
We are getting ready for winter. We have firewood and canned goods stockpiled.
I think we're on 15-second posting delay to catch the trolls.
;^)
Trolls and sleeper cells are being tolerated more than ever around here. I like your idea :-)
Take care, sweetie. My prayers are traveling with you.
How terrific! Just what I've been praying for - the valve replacement and a Doctor who knows his business!
Your Mom will come through with flying colors.
Take care Guennie.Prayers for all in need.
Not only is he a couple of cans short of a 6-pack, but I think he is a sick man -- physically as well as mentally.
One of the things that bothers me the most (besides his flip-flopping) is that he apparently has little energy and no resilience health-wise. He seems to have to rest on a regular basis and has taken more vacations during this campaign than I have ever seen/heard of a candidate taking. I'd guess that the "vacations" are to regenerate his energy level so that he can go out on the campaign trail again. But, that's just my feeling about Kerry.
I don't think it is just a feeling you have about kerry. I think it is true. This is what the demoCRAT puts on the ballot. Again, as in 1992, they put a lousy excuse for a human being on the ballot for the most powerful position on the planet. This demoCRAT party is DANGEROUS...I SAID DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is why the demoCRAT party MUST BE ABOLISHED and replaced with another party.
Good news about your mother, Jim. I continue to pray for your mom, you and your family.
I haven't been very active in the election this year. Our county seems very safe for President Bush and we've been waiting for a couple of weeks just for a Bush/Cheney yard sign, but told they are all out. But today I found a way to lend a tiny bit of support while I was at work at the post office.
I'm filling in for a few days for a mail carrier who cut his foot. While I was sorting mail, I came across a letter from James Carville. It was addressed to someone in a trailer park, but didn't have the lot number. I showed it to the guy next to me and we smiled at each other as I said, "Hmmm, insufficient address" and tossed it into the dead mail tub.
Right after that there was a letter from Bill Frist with an erroneous house number (no such number). My well-trained Republican mind quickly found the mistake and I wrote in the right number and made sure they got it in their mail today.
All in all I got to toss about a dozen Carville letters to veterans in a group home that had relocated. (Those letters can't be forwarded because they are bulk rate.) I know it's small, but anything to help the cause, right?
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. :-)

When you can sleep 12 hours,, it's a good indication that you really NEEDED sleep!!
I am jealous!
DISCUSSION
...JEANNE KEEPS ON TRUCKIN...
JEANNE continues to head westward at a good speed for the tropics. Landfall, however, will be a couple hours later than anticipated with the main forecast package issued at 5 PM..
From sundown tonight to sundown tomorrow is Yom Kipper. Jewish people may not be listening to radio and TV. Please try and keep them aware of the progress of JEANNE.
Models have JEANNE running along the coast either as a hurricane or a strong tropical storm all the way from landfall near Vero Beach up to Kitty Hawk, NC. Prepare accordingly!
Note that the path of JEANNE is such that even though the landfall is in northern Florida, on the forecast track the effects of the storm's severity will be felt from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to Virginia Beach, VA.
Rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches along and to the right of the track of JEANNE may be expected which can result in life-threatening flash floods.
Again, JEANNE will likely be a category III at landfall.
WATCHES/WARNINGS
A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA ATLANTIC COAST FROM FLORIDA CITY NORTHWARD TO ST. AUGUSTINE, INCLUDING LAKE OKEECHOBEE, AND FOR THE NORTHERN BAHAMAS, INCLUDING THE ABACOS, ANDROS ISLAND, BERRY ISLANDS, BIMIMI, ELEUTHERA, GRAND BAHAMA, AND NEW PROVIDENCE.
A HURRICANE WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ATLANTIC COAST OF THE UNITED STATES FROM ST. AUGUSTINE, FL, TO ALTAMAHA SOUND, GA.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS, INCLUDING CAT ISLAND, THE EXUMAS, LONG ISLAND, RUM CAY, AND SAN SALVADOR.
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM FLORIDA CITY AROUND THE SOUTHERN END OF THE FLORIDA PENINSULA AND NORTHWARD ALONG THE FLORIDA WEST COAST TO ANCLOTE KEY, INCLUDING THE FLORIDA BAY AND THE FLORIDA KEYS NORTH OF SEVEN MILE BRIDGE.

HURRICANE LOCAL STATEMENTS
NEXRAD IMAGERY
[No part of JEANNE is within 124 nautical miles of any CONUS or Puerto Rico NEXRAD location.]
SLOSH DATA
Bahamas--Storm surge flooding of 4 to 8 feet above normal tide levels along the north side of Grand Bahama Island and the west side of the Abacos. Storm surge flooding of 2 to 4 feet above normal tide level may be expected along the west side of other Bahamian islands in hurricane warning area.
Florida--Storm surge flooding of 4 to 6 feet above normal tide levels may be expected near and to the right of the center when JEANNE crossed the coast.
[SLOSH data have not yet been calculated for JEANNE.]
TOD DATA
Due to the trajectory of JEANNE as it crosses the coast, the notion of a "triangle" of destruction fails on this storm. Hurricane force winds are likely within the area described by joining the following points:
Start--Boca Raton, FL
To--Basinger, FL (somewhat NNW of L. Okeechobee)
Then--following a line parallel to the coast but 60 miles inland
To--the border of GA/SC
Then--to the Atlantic coast
And--return to origin of the polygon
STATE-ISSUED OFFICIAL EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS AND OTHER INFORMATION
INTEREST WATCH AREA
Interests in the Bahamas, and along the United States Atlantic littoral from Florida to Massachusetts should monitor the progress of JEANNE.
Continued prayers for your Mother.
The procedures ahead of her are as common, and typically as successful, as a tonsilectomy. You Mom should go thru this with flying colors.
Try to get some rest so you can be useful when she comes home.
/john
And now, I must go to bed. See you all in the morning!
