"Hello Susie. Gosh, has it really been a year since you entered the 8th grade? What? You think that you're pregnant? Okay. I'll take you to the clinic tomorrow. And don't worry. Mom and Dad will never know."
Here's one for you. I have a case I was just assigned that was opened because the 15 year old girl wasn't going to school regularly. Her mother's attitude...they should cut the kid some slack because she has a baby. She can't be expected to be in school all the time. The 15 year old is only in about 7th or 8th grade. I can't remember right off.
Heh. My mom has told me that when I was in grade school, my teachers would call her in to complain about my fidgety behavior. Seems the problem was that I would finish my assignments ahead of most of the rest of the class, so I was bored, and would start looking around for something to do to entertain myself. My mom just told the teacher to give me more work when I finished the assignment. That seemed to do the trick. I wasn't being a bad kid, I just needed more to do.
Seems to be a lot of those kinds of stories on FR, although I'm not surprised.
What I disliked most when my kids were in school was the gobbly gook speak. My daughter's first grade teacher told me in conference that she "tries to socialize in class". I had to ask the teacher did that mean she "talks in class" and she said yes. Geez.
These days, the school administration would probably try to get me put on Ritalin.
I don't think the teachers used phrases like that when i was a kid. I DID talk in class when I was through with my work - I was bored, and needed something to do. I wasn't the kind of kid to sit quietly with my hands folded and be angelic. I needed activity!
Yep... even though I only learned English in first grade, by third grade a couple of us were being sent outside to perform plays for the younger kids. In 5th and 8th grades, in addition to doing plays and running the school, I tutored the slower boys. I always wish I had gone to a more challenging grade school (even though this was a Catholic school) - I could have learned so much more.
And ones who don't have to worry about being sued every time she/he insults one of the little darlings' "sensitive egos" or actually expects them to earn their grades.
No commnet folks is death ears again?

the reason for Olbermann feelings is that is what the Dems have been doing all along for the past 40-50 years!
It was Kerry's 10,000 lawyers that open the door the Republicans to clean house of all the games the Dems had plan and tried to get away with!
The Dems thought they had it sew up with the exit polls count, and manipulation of the voting except the Pubs had rid of the bad eggs!

Hi Westy, everyone.
We just got in and am on the way out again. I haven't even logged on yet, and I'm all partied out.
I wish I could just catch up and get back into some sort of routine.
BBL..I hope...:(
Big Pharma is a huge contributor to this administration, and the pilot program started here in Texas - there's lots of money to be made having everyone in the country on drugs.
Just look at the print and TV ads that are out there:
Feeling creaky in the joints? Here, take this pill.
Having trouble remembering things? Take this nice pill.
Incontinece problems? This pill will fix you right up.
Issues with pitching a tent? Yo, try this one.
It's absolutely criminal.
