Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Heh.... well, if you're staying up, you might be the lone midwife for this shift... I'm thinking of joining my hubby for at least the beginning of a movie before I nod off.
I'll see you in the morning!
You have a good night.
Good morning.
Exciting night I see:)

9 degrees here this morning. We let Grizzly in the house last night. He did pretty good. He just wants to pounce on the cat and Susie everytime they walk by him. Also hiked his leg on my couch:(. He's flopped over now in front of the stove.

Morning. I really have to get up and go to town. Sigh. Today Eddies birthday. I'm off but they are having a luncheon for him. I'm supposed to bring a cake. I had though about baking one. Nah.
I'm going to have to throw Cindy outside before she pees in the floor. Eddie opened the door for her and she stuck her nose out and came back in.
We have a baby yet?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY:)

I have to go to town later too. Choctawsquaw needs to buy some shirts. And I have a few last minute things I need from the store. But I'm not going to have to cross the river:)
Becky
Well that's good... I am sure the other incident was just excitement unable to contain itself!
Yeah:) I was surprised when he first got up that he asked to go out, then came back in. He an Nikki will have to spend the day in the trailer while all the company is here.

Well, I'll be darn, that's what poke salad is! Learn something new every day. And they are trying to take over my forest, I mowed alot of them down this past fall. I think the berry stalks could make a pretty flower arrangement but I'm lousy at doing stuff like that.
Anyway, good morning! Still cold here, about 21 degrees right now. Supposed to be back up into the mid 60's by Monday.
Good morning..i think, no foal yet, she is stretching a lot this morning. stallion has settled down in the nearby field and all is well. My typing will probably be all over the place as my eyes wont stay open! LOL
Guess tonight will be more hectic what with Santa coming, so we probably need another thing going on.........thankyou Misty! LOL
Hope everyone has a great day.
I hope you don't have a big complicated dinner planned this year!
It's suppose to warm up here again next week too. I think we're always just a little cooler they you.

No I dont, i did the Christmas dinner at thanksgiving for 16 people, but it is just 8 of us here tommorow. I am cooking a Cornish pie which is a recipie from the 1700s in Cornwall England. A bit different, but it sure is scrummy, friends here put in orders when they know I am baking some!I can cook them today.
Well, cooking for just 8 is way more than I would be used to on just an easy day!
We don't do anything today, our Christmas starts tomorrow, will be getting up at 0:dark:30 to go up to the beach house where my family is.
Sounds like fun, but if I could have my dream come true, I would be in the mountains, in a log cabin, roaring fire, hot chocolate, soda bread, Irish cheddar and strong pickled onions! Which reminds me, I need to go and lay the fire sometime!
In my experience, mares keep you waiting so long about the time you decide it's not ever going to happen and quit checking so much is when they have them:)
It can happen as much as 10 days past the due date. I started sleeping in the barn with Belle about 13 days ahead of the due date, and she foaled about 2 days before the due date.
Becky
And I will be recovering from Christmas celebrations tomorrow:)
