Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 | Still round the corner there may waitA new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 | Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

My absolute worst coulda-burned-the-house-down moment of forgetfulness was when I left the broiler on the oven on ALL DAY. The house was TOASTY warm when I got home, and my next propane bill was a bit high, but the house was still standing...so I guess that's positive...

Steve's home. Sprained his ankle yesterday playing basketball during lunch. It's huge and he can't stand on it. But at least it's not broken!

Anyway, they told him to not bear any weight on it for two days and so he's got a brace and crutches.

So I won't be around much...

That's why, when I bought a new coffee maker, I made sure it had an automatic 'shut off' after 2 hours!

Mornin'. The biggest worry with a crockpot is that the liquid will dry up and your dinner will burn. It sounds like a nice recipe - let me know how it turns out!

All I can say is, I'm glad it's not Monday.

I think I had plenty of liquid...hope so. At least I'll be home by four thirty, so it's really not THAT long...

I'll let you know how it turns out! It was only slightly pricier than hamburger since the meat was on sale, and it's going to be a HUGH pot o' meat. I'll have lots of leftovers, even after feeding bothers - that's by design. I wanted something I could have for the rest of the week!

I'm doing much better today. Hacked my way through the weekend with bronchitis, but got an antibiotic on Saturday. Was afraid it would delay the root canal, but it didn't.

I went the sedation route for the root canal and remember vey little of yesterday.

Ugh...bronchitis? That's no fun. Wipe you out, it will. Glad you have antibiotics now!

And a root canal on top of that?? Well...hopefully that means you're done with bad stuff for the month of October. Maybe.
