Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
So it could stick around for a long time? That's not good...
The description sounds nice! Realtor.com didn't have a picture of it, though.
We still have a flood watch, but I'm not sure they are still expecting much here. We'll see, though.
Yes, the slow speed is bad.
The people in San Salvador, Bahamas had to endure winds of 130-140 mph for something like 13 hours. Same at Marsh Harbour, Abaco, though by then the winds were down to 100-115. Same thing could happen when she comes ashore in FL.
More rain accumulation, too. At least there's no hills here, so no mudslides or situations like last week in Richmond.
It's a mostly treed lot. Big asphalt driveway and a fenced off area that could be garden area. It has a nice, big deck and a patio underneath where you walk out of the basement. Gas fireplace and wet bar on the lower level.
Built in the 60's and it has that brownish-yellow color fridge and oven. Oh well.
Woo-hoo! My code works! Two hours of polishing, another hour to add the extra credit segment... and tomorrow is mine!
Now, what shall I do... hmmm...
Thanks LadyDoc!! Great blog!!
Hi all!
The only one we don't know about is ksen. the others didn't get hit too hard, but ksen is gonna get it head on tonight, if he stayed.
Hope he got out... it's not right for him to let us worry like this!!
On the bright side, I stopped at the thrift store. They have a not-bad selection of clothing, and a 20% student discount, so I guess I'm going to have to swallow my distaste and shop cheap. I got a nice two-piece outfit that can be a winter Sunday outfit. But I'll admit my real reason for getting it is I want to go to the anime con in costume...
I love going there and spending a hundred bucks on a cartful of stuff.
I hope he got out too... :/
Well, I spent 10 bucks. Got a very nice silk scarf for 75 cents that I can use to hold back my hair sometimes.
Hi all! Ruthy just called, she's fine, she was standing outside, winds gusting to 40 maybe 50, light rain.
We're still thinking about ksen. Hope he calls soon also.
Good to hear about Ruthie. Please ping me if you get word from ksen...
Have just finished planning tomorrow's driving adventure! This one involves Wyoming as well as Colorado.
Good night you all, looks like we got away with it this time here in So Fla.
I imagine Kevin may well be without electricity by now.
However, I think his cell ought to work for the time being, just heard Max Mayfield say he was talking to another meteorologist by cell phone at 11 PM.
Some good news; thanks. Please keep me updated....
Thanks for the updates!
Glad you had a bit of success looking for a new 'hobbit hole', trust there were no strange scratches on the door. :-)
"a bit dark", well think 'winterset winter white' or then again, maybe not.
We'll see if we can find it on the webpage.
Sigh...
Well, Steve grilled a bunch of chicken leg quarters, like he does every weekend...
When we started to eat, we found some had not gotten done. "No worries!" says I, "I'll just microwave it!" Steve kinda scowled...he doesn't like microwaved food. But I said "Now the cupcakes for Matthew's birthday turned out fine, and this chicken already has the great grilled flavor...this will just make them a bit more done."
Then I got to talking about how if I'd only kept our old "free standing" gas range, we coulda connected it out in the garage (there's a gas outlet out there) and I coulda used that when our oven broke! Anyway, we'd sold it in a garage sale. "Can't keep everything!" says I, "But I'm glad I still have my old microwave in case anything happens to this one!"
Then I laughed and said "I better hush before I jinx it!"
That's when I noticed that after 5 minutes of microwaving the chicken on high...it wasn't sizzling.
I took it out and it was barely warm...the same temperature it was when I put it in.
I tried another 5 minutes...nothing.
I tried melting a bit of butter...nothing.
It doesn't warm at all. So our dryer is out, our oven is out, and our microwave is out.
Well, I'm glad I still have my old microwave!
