The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

One tip I've read for 'naturalizing' daffydils is to take the bulbs and just toss them in the general direction of where you want them, then dig the hole right where each bulb falls! Can't get any more natural looking than that! My favorite daffodil is the one with the creamy white outside petals and the intense salmon inside petals. Just gorgeous!

Biggest booth, biggest crowd, AND the most kids! ;-)

I've actually heard liberals ranting about this, so I KNOW they worry about it - we're the ones having families. Not that that's the quickest way to change the shape of politics, but...who knows what it may mean in twenty years or so?

Hehehe! I love it!

I tell ya, I'm so glad you posted your fair pics! I love the fair.

Well, I'm just waiting for my farina to set up a bit. Took me forever to find my glasses just so I could read the directions on the box. It's been a long time since I ate farina and I wanted to make sure of the directions.

Finally found the glasses...I'd tossed them in the basket with the laundry waiting to be folded.

Sigh.

Ok...gonna eat. See ya later!

They had some of the salmon and cream type, but they were more expensive. Maybe another year!

I have a limited area for planting them, but I'd like to mix 'em up as much as possible. Really, I'd like to make the whole slope by the house into a flower garden, but there are bushes...I can't fight those. I'll have to hire someone to pull 'em up someday, I guess. Or marry someone who'd like doin' it for me. Heh...

I'm going to get crocuses too, I think!

I also posted pictures of the draft horses on the horse thread: 158

I tried to get pictures of the fancy chickens for you, but the cages got in the way of good pictures.

I love the fair too, love the goats and pigs and cows... and the kids showing their ponies... I thought this girl zonked out in front of her stall was classic.

Also one pic of Weird Al singin' "YODA"

eBay is one place I wouldn't have thought to look for bulbs!

You really can get ANYTHING there, can't you?

Yay! FMA 49 is out (heads up ksen) so I can download it and it'll be ready when I get home!

Rosie, I haven't forgotten that I'm burning disks for you... I'm loaning my own disks to my coworker today in exchange for "Neon Genesis Evangelion".

I saw last night that the raw FMA 49 was out. My kids can't wait for Tuesdays now because they know it is FMA download night. ;^)

Samurai 7 #13 should be out anytime soon as well.

Do you know anything about Monster? I'm thinking about starting that one. It sounds pretty good, but definitely not for the kiddies.

I'm about 7 eps into MadLax and I kind of like it.

Let me know how you like Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've heard lots of good things about it, but I trust your judgement more than someone I do not know.

We should get SS 13 and 14 next week. It comes out two episodes every two weeks.

I'm really watching Eva because it's such an important part of anime culture. Am not sure I'll like it, or understand it, but it's one of the big must-see anime. Right up there with Rurouni Kenshin.

Check out Full Moon wo Sagashite; it's probably ok for the kids. After I watch Eva, I'm considering trying "Trigun" or "Hellsing"; they're both very popular and I don't know much about them...

Oh, yeah, "Lost Universe" is a pretty good anime, safe for kids and such... bet you guys are going to be as upset as I am when FMA ends in two weeks...

Yup. Eva's pretty famous. I'll let you know how I like it.

My sister in England has just discovered she can't get any anime! Her computer isn't getting connected to the internet for weeks. So... I offered to do an "equivalent trade": anime disks for Smarties... heh heh heh.

Have her pop over to Dublin and bum some off Empress ^.^

Heh, I keep forgetting you all are really 'new fans'.
Eva I would say is a true fan 'must see' I will say no more about it other than I don't think I would show it to kids under the age of 15.
Trigun I think is kind ok but Jen could get a better read on that than me. I like Trigun a lot but never have seen Hellsing. Something about it never really made me want to go watch it.
Have I recommended Kaleido Star to you all yet? It is great and good for all ages. So is 'Full Moon'.

I have Madlax and Monster but have not seen either one yet.
Another one worth checking out on download is Touch.
