The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Wish we had trash pick up...

Speaking of which, I should probably flylady the basement soon. *sigh* So many things that I don't really want to get rid of, but if they've been down there since I moved in, I obviously don't *neeeed* them. But I'm a sentimental fool, and I have a hard time letting anything go. That and I hate to throw out anything that isn't broken, even if I don't use it...I still have things like tupperware containers with no lids (can't use 'em except in the house), and the dish set I had before someone gave me the ones I'm using.

Mornin' folks. Fitness dwarf did manage to make it this a.m.

Started out cranky. Wife hit me up again as I was leavin' (at 6:10) about that durn socialist health study fer Jr's class. I told her ~ again ~ that our family medical history is none of their bidness. She says Jr. wants to do it 'cause otherwise he'll have to do work from the textbook [shudder] with the regular teacher. Ha...like after the last two years the thought of Jr. havin' to do extra classwork would concern me. (I checked, it'll be different, but a comparable level of work). Anyways...we ain't signin' it.

Last night I gots another call on that stoopid Science Fiction Book Club account. We gotta go to Kentucky this weekend, but when I get back I'm gonna start searchin' for others who have had similar experiences. I can't be the only one...

BUT, today is getting better. The gym was good. And the kidney sold, so I can get my dental work all done.

Just found out a friend of mine (former candidate I worked for) was named a circuit court judge. That'll pi$$ off some RATS.

And that's a good thing.

Remember that lid I found? Did I tell you about finding that lid to one of my little bowls in a thrift store? I'd had the bowl for years and it had a very distinct lid and I was just walking by, looked down and saw the exact lid!

It was like five cents and the thrift store lady just gave it to me.

I got over the sentiment part by thinking of who I might bless with the stuff that I don't use. I used the same method with Joshua, who is very attached to everthing he has, even though it's so much he can't play with any of it! I just reminded him that the train set he never plays with would be such a blessing to someone else. He was almost enthusiastic after that.

I've only once or twice went to get something and remembered I've given it away...out of all that tons of stuff I had hauled off!

Trouble is...most of what I have isn't something I could even give away. It's not nice stuff at all. So...it'd be throwing it away.

Which seems wasteful, even if it's things I'll never ever use!

But I really should just bite the bullet and do it. And then reward myself in the end with a new bookcase for in the bedroom...

Good morning! Congrats to fitness dwarf! Fitness hobbit didn't do so well...at least I did weights, though...

I wuz gonna tell ya - I did make it to Wal-mart, and got bunches of bulbs! Or a couple big bags, in any case. I figure if at least SOME of them come up, it'll be worth it - they were only five dollars for hugh bags. Now to get those in the ground before it freezes! I don't have a good track record there...

Not aware of any HH mini-dramas.

"Corin" the sitcom gone horribly wrong opens a new season next week.

(and....BWAHAHAHAHAHAH...just found out that Jr. and I both got "dancing" roles in the Christmas production...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

Back later...I think I'm at work...

I revised my letter to not say anything at all about the choppers circling...just says that we wave.

I gotta go too...school day has begun.

Why does that bring to mind the "Camelot" number in Monty Python's Holy Grail?

Check this out - from our WA state fair.... Check them out, I think I see a good sign!

We got stickers and buttons and stuff.... lots of people were seen around wearing Bush stuff.

We got a big Dino Rossi sign from them to put in the pasture too.... he's a republican running for governor.

The biggest crowd was at the GOP booth! YIPPEE!!

And in Washington State no less. Could this be the turning of the tide? Hmmmm....

I'm swamped here at work today, so I can't stay. The system is even slower today and somehow I need to get 15 payrolls done. *shakes head*

Pray for me folks....

I know you have your squabbles with Jr., but they are going to pale in comparison to such FUN shared memories from things like the Christmas productions!
