Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Check out this picture of me and Joshua...
We were watching Matthew play softball at co-op this afternoon. He just leaned up against me and a friend took this picture and emailed it to me!
Complain away! I can't stand this new web-based system. Actually I should say I love the set-up but the speed is awful.
It took me 3 times longer to run a payroll on the new system than it did on the old. Even the IT guys had to come down and stare in wonder at the Task Manager processes tab, which showed that 97% CPU was being used just to pull up an employee's records.
Not much else I can do except run a Disk Cleaner to try and free up as much free space as possible in the hopes it moves quicker.
Any computer gurus have any other suggestions? :-)
What a sweet Mommy & Me pic that is!
How did Matthew do in softball?
Pretty good...he hit the ball but it was a foul.
Last week he made a base hit!
So he's having a better time than he thought he was gonna have, that's for sure.
High processor util on a web client does seem a little odd. It can happen I s'pose.
I can't remember the cartoon that came from! I know it's Bugs Bunny, but who was the villian?
Today, while I was fixin' supper, Matthew was musing...just chatting with me. He said "I just love weapons. I can pick the word "weapon" out on a page in a book. I even love just the word weapon."
LOL!!!! Doesn't that just crack you up?? The things boys muse about whilst their mothers are cooking.
Just a guess... but if the CPU is maxed out for long periods of time, my guess is that clearing disk space won't get you much. if it were a disk i/o problem, the cpu should be idling more, waiting for the disk.
Maybe. but maybe not.
sounds more like they've shifted some of the post-query processing to the client end in order to relieve the server of the same operations.
but then again I'm just guessin.
WAY TO GO, MATTHEW!!!
I participated in a co-ed softball team for a short time and I discovered that I still have absolutely NO hand-eye coordination. I thought I'd grown out of my awkwardness, but NOPE! *laughing*
I won't even pretend to guess what you're talking about! *grin*
I think that it is a combination of things. But I'm no expert and don't know how PCs work to begin with.
I have an older CPU, I have to run 3 web-based applications at once and the company only has 4 servers carrying the load of an entire building of folks using the internet and those same 3 applications on their computers.
OT: figures "banker's hours" and all that. Keep upbeat, there are lots of houses out there.
I once played softball too...Steve and I both did. I hit the ball once and went to run, but literally spun out with both feet! Ran in place for 2-3 steps, no grip on the ground until I finally landed face down flat on the homeplate. I never even went forward an inch.
I thought it was hysterical but the rest of my team was very put out with me. Buncha liberals. (The team was the University of Texas Entemology team or sumpin like that.)
That's the one :)
The last time I played softball was 1979. Chased a foul ball into a ditch and broke an ankle. That was it.
Man, were you born under an unlucky star or something?
Heh...I've been told I should write a book...
(did I mention that 8 months later I broke my leg while roller skating?)
Found out today that in our latest budget crisis the department directors have put my office "below the line" (to be eliminated if the budget forecast comes in like they think).
So, I'm going back into the job market again!!! Maybe I'll come to Florida, Ruthy...I'm getting to be an expert at disasters. Going to get the resume ready and work on it while I'm in Alabama next week. Then the next week, I go back into the hunt. If they eliminate us, it'll be at the end of the year...so no time like the present to jump back into the market.
All just normal in my crazy post-40 life, I guess.
