Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!

Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Yeah, let me know, also if you want more Samurai7... Only three more episodes of FMA, and one should be available tomorrow. Then we have to wait for the movie... Man, I hope Roy survives.
Wish I could send you "Full Moon wo Sagashite", since it's so weird, but it's not a format I can copy. But it's very sweet.
Dear Sir,
Three years ago, on September 11th, 2001, I recall sitting with my husband in my living room, both of us still reeling from the events of that morning. Our two little boys were in bed and we had the television off and we were just sitting, talking. It was quiet...no airplanes flying over on their way to and from Tulsa Intercontinental Airport.
Slowly, my husband and I both became aware of a sound...a low "thunking" sound. A military helicopter! It was so low that our windows rattled.
We both went out in our driveway in time to see a helicopter fly right over our house. My neighbor across the street came out of her house and ran to me and said "Oh Kim! I'm so scared!"
"Don't be scared!" I replied. "When you see something like this, you know you're safe!" In my heart, I prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for whoever that was flying over. I also began my habit of praying a "hedge of protection" around the military choppers and F-16s that fly over my house.
My two little boys and I also began another tradition...we decided that every time we heard a military chopper fly over, we would dash out and wave and cheer for our troops. My children are homeschooled, so we're often home during the day when they fly over! We thought if someone happened to glance down and see us, they might be encouraged.
I'm pretty sure they've seen us down here waving.
Sir, I am so proud of each of the soldiers in those choppers. I'm so grateful for their service. I suspect that there is one or two specific soldiers who are flying over my home that have seen us. On behalf of myself and a group of friends who also support our troops, I would like to present them with a small token of appreciation.
One particular soldier I saw was flying the chopper from north to south, down Memorial, at around noon, September 19th, 2004. I live in ----, near ---- and --st Street, behind the church.
Thank you for any assistance you could give me in this matter. I know this might seem like an odd request, but my boys and I have been waving at the choppers for over three years now and after they flew over on Sept. 19th, I decided to write.
Sincerely,
2jm
I killed the thread.
It's a good letter. A little vague, yes, but nothing that could get anyone in trouble!
The officer in charge of the squadron will probably read that at a gathering of ALL the helicopter crews at some point. Can you imagine how thrilled your guys will be when they hear it?
Now I just need to draw up the courage to contact them and get the name of who to send it to. Funny how nervous I am!
Saw a movie with the jedis over the weekend...quite funny. Called "The Slime People". Really campy "horror" movie with a very oportunistic (in those days) Marine in it.
Someday I gotta get a copy of it and send it to the troops.
Nan Desu Kan? Sugoi! It was incredible. I have a couple posts somewhere... will hunt them down...
It was hysterical.
Just dropping in...have some gardening and house cleaning to do, but will check in every once in a while.
Odd question for y'all (and Fedora knows where i am going with this...) : aside from Wneighbor's new son-in-law, is there any other HHDer who is Jewish and willing to put up with a goyim's bumbling questions about tzadikim nistarim? I am so curious about this particular subject, but am loathe to cause offense. The Hobbit Hole is where I feel the safest at this point.
Alkhin, which she is an admiring Gentile

I might be wrong, but isn't Sam Cree Jewish?
Yes, by marriage.
Wife and children by birth.
I don't think I'll likely be offended, please go ahead.
Now to look up tzadikim nistarim and see what it means!
Wal-mart sells flower bulbs, don't they? I'm thinking of making a run over there tonight...I hate going on weekends and except for Monday, I have no free evenings. And it's been awhile - I have plenty of little things to stock up on!
With the frost already here, I'm thinking I need to plant bulbs ASAP or end up like I've been ending up, with the ground frozen and no way to plant.
I think so...I don't know! I've never planted them.
My thoughts are "I don't plant anything I can't eventually eat."
I found this, kind of a delightful concept:
"Mystical Hasidic Judaism as well as other segments of Judaism know that there is the Jewish tradition of 36 righteous men whose role in life is to justify the purpose of mankind in the eyes of God; their identity is unknown to each other; if one of them comes to a realization of his true purpose then he may die and his role is immediately assumed by another person"
Had never heard of it, although I am aware that Judaism contains elements that are concerned with mysticism, numbers, etc. The Cabalists are a good example.
I did know that 36 (and 18) is considered by Jews to be a "lucky" number, for instance, I think Jeanne and I got quite a few gifts of $36 dollares at our wedding.
Also, if memory serves, $36 is one of the donation amounts suggested by the Republican Jewish Coalition.
I'm off to co-op! See you all later!
Movie looks like we'd be on the floor laughing...but then we do have a strange sort of humor...maybe it would be good for shootmoot?
We lost a small guinea yesterday...something took it right out of the pen area (we found lots of feathers but no body)...Gnad is picking up a live trap this afternoon to catch the culprit.
