Hi Amy, and everybody.

An August Midnight

I

A shaded lamp and a waving blind,
And the beat of a clock from a distant floor:
On this scene enter--winged, horned, and spined -
A longlegs, a moth, and a dumbledore;
While 'mid my page there idly stands
A sleepy fly, that rubs its hands . . .

II

Thus meet we five, in this still place,
At this point of time, at this point in space.
- My guests parade my new-penned ink,
Or bang at the lamp-glass, whirl, and sink.
"God's humblest, they!" I muse. Yet why?
They know Earth-secrets that know not I.

~ Thomas Hardy

Howdy, Victoria.

I don't know which I like better -- the picture or the poem!

That is lovely, Victoria .... the poem and the picture.

I hope you have been having a great week.

Mine has been rather busy. With temps at 105 - 106, it is almost impossible to do more than one or two errands a day. Next week should bring much relief.

Hi FRiends! I have to tell you about my solo FReep (sort of) at the grocery store today! I went to Publix and right next to my parking spot was a truck with 3 offensive bumper stickers. "Kerry 2004", "Re-Defeat Bush" and "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing its idiot".

WELL! I couldn't let that go without a response! So... I pulled out a pen and a pad of paper and scribbled a note: "I believe the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" and signed it "www.FreeRepublic.com" and put the note under the wiper blade on the driver's side. Then, I went in the grocery store and hung out near the doors for awhile - but didn't see the idiot who owned the truck. It wasn't much of a FReep, but I enjoyed it immensely!! :)
