Yeah, I think we need to find the class.
You know we've already tried to steer him toward our Alma Mater, which has an excellent communications department. Since 1984, they've sent interns to the Olympics and were THE training site for interns for Atlanta.
There are 40 students in Greece now, hired by the Greek Olympic Committee. They are the ONLY paid interns there.
He's said for a long time that he's interested in video production. We got him the camera, took him to meet with the director of the program at our school (he's a friend of mine). But he hasn't really applied himself.
That's the underlying problem in all of this. He WANTS to do things. He has dreams.
But somehow, he just can't grasp the concept that he's got to work for them.
How do you motivate someone else?
You don't. There's just no way to do it. But I think the class might spark something, turn a sort of "yeah, I'm interested in that" attitude into a passion. Particularly if some of the other students are enthusiastic. That sort of thing rubs off.
See ya later this afternoon, gotta go.
Does your town have a local cable station? Like for local events, school board, etc.? Our cable company is OWNED by the town, and it offers video production classes for kids. Once they've been through the class, they're allowed to take the cameras out and shoot their own videos, and they're shown on the local cable channel! The class is free for residents of the town, but I doubt something like that, offered by the Cable channel would be TOO expensive.
