The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

www.wardsmythe.com is my website Fedora. I'm playing around with Photoshop and updating my site.

I have "The Fellowship of the Ring" by Black Label, and it's really good! Graphics are decent, and the story-line follows the books, rather than the movies.

Kind of comes apart at the end and gets a little confusing, but it's good nonetheless.

I've played the Demo for ROTK, and that looks REALLY good. I just haven't had the chance to pick it up yet.

Thanks, I'm checking it out now. What type of writing/editing jobs do you usually get from that?

I have the Black Label FoR game, but the first time I tried playing it I had such a hard time using the controls I couldn't even get out of Bag End, so I gave up. Looks like it'd be fun if I could figure out how to use it.

Yeah, the controls are a little wierd...but as the game goes on, it gets a bit easier. It's a lot more fun when you get to be Aragorn and Gandalf. Frodo's only got a stick for the first half of the game...poor dude.

Escaping the Nazgul is a great part of the game...make sure you play that part at night, in the dark, with the sound way up.

I'll try it again and see if I can figure out the controls. Have you ever played Neverwinter Nights? I like that a lot.

Heh... you remind me of why I hate videogames... my little brothers would slay Orcs all over the place and I'd have Frodo running into an invisible wall or something...

Maaaan, nobody told me single life was so boooring. Sheesh, if I even had laundry to do that would be something. But I had wine with dinner and now I'm stuck here.

Heh. My Frodo was so clueless he had trouble finding his way out of Bag End.

Ya need a house and a yard to tend to. Stripping wallpaper fills the time nicely. :)

You speak as one who does not phear the wrath of Sadistica, the Evil Muse. When I have time to write, I have neither the inspiration nor the desire. When a story burns at my fingertips, I do not have the time to indulge... sigh...

So Sadistica is her name, eh?--I knew there was someone behind it. . . :)

Actually I speak as one who gets paid to write and must force myself to write even when I don't feel like it :) Sometimes I can't do it, either, but I've found that if I do certain things the muse does eventually kick in. Once I get past the initial inertia it seems to start flowing.

Since my email seems to be on time-delay, check your FReepmail.

I'm going to Green Bay to watch the Packers practice on Thursday. I'm hoping that will help get the image of Kerry with a football out of my mind. [Shudder!]

Hey - had a great time at the JimRob Moot - gave him the knife and told him all about them.

I said "I know you probably think the Hobbit Hole just takes up space, but this is one of the good things we do with it!" Or something like that. I told him that we had been sending care packages of treats and things, but that some of the guys, winmag in particular wanted to send something a little more ~useful~ to our guys, and that it had now grown to 255 knives sent.

There will be pics, but Ramius has to get home and email them to me. Can you believe I forgot our camera? ~slaps forehead~

What did he say to the "taking up space" remark? Hope he's not gonna start charging rent... you gotta keep your head down, you know... hobbitses don't want to lose their nice comfy hole...

Cool. So what'd he have to say in response?--besides us just taking up space, I mean :)
