Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I hope she's able to...
Will the house be boarded up? Are you doing all that prep work and such?
Hiccup!
Wasn't he GREAT!!!
I was really cheering!
My inlaws are in Charleston, SC. They havent evac'd for any of the storms this year.... much to our great anxiety.
*yawn* mornin' folks.
Update: Nana dislocated her hip. They were able to get it back in place last night (er...sometime this morning), but they had to sedate her in surgery. So she's still there. Wife got the impression that had it not been at such an ungodly hour they would have sent her on home.
Physically, she'll prolly be just as fine (well, fine as ever). Wife is concerned that we may once again bring home an emotional invalid.
ksen - GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THAT THING! We're dreading the additional rainfall (and accompanying winds if it tracks on up this way), but man, that's a direct hit.
Take your cue from Aragorn. When Frodo decided it was time to go on his own, Aragorn let him go. I don't mean to be flip, but don't take any chances bro.
We'll be watchin' the reports and prayin' for you.
Thank you very much!
I figured that is what happened with Nana. Bless her heart...it's rough.
How do you think Kerry's gonna do at the American Legion?
Hey 2J, how's Matthew?... tell him tough guys take their meds, and laugh at infections... his mission today, is tuh smoke that stinkin' bug what bit him...
on another note... I was asked to by our education minister to help lead the boys youth group (7-12th grade) Challengers... said I'd be gettin' a call from the leader... the first meetin' fer the Fall is tonite, and I hadn't heard nuthin'... so's I give the feller a call last nite... turns out he ain't gonna be there, knows nothing about this year's program, didn't know I wuz gonna be helpin', etc... he said "it's all on you..."
think I'm gonna have "words" with our edukation pastor this mornin'... it's gonna be interestin', tuh say the least... the only reason I called last nite, was that our new choir director and his family wuz over fer supper, and he said, "so, you're in charge of Challengers I hear..."
dude... get to high ground... oh that's right... there ain't none in FLA...
yuh gots our prayers...
And prayers for you folks, too, ksen...but as they say, God helps those who helps themselves - i.e. get out of that thing's path!!
I'll tell him! He'll get a kick out of it that you said something just to him.
It is right at the end of the great plains -- the airport is really out in the plains another 25 miles east. Yeah, it isn't what you expect (but then I've been here before, so I knew what the geography was like) being mile high. We were walking down the street last night and I said to a co-worker "were 500 feet higher than the base of the White Pass ski area" and she looked at me like I was nuts! Way up high in the plains - but the plains nonetheless.
ksen - GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THAT THING!
good advice...
he's a good kid... can't wait to see him again...
got the kids some new camouflage yesterday... the seasons comin' quick...
14 days tuh Bow Season...
Well, there's Space Mountain...
Well, that sounds like it's off to a great start!
Heh...heard a commercial on the radio the other day that cracked me up...starts off with a guy talking in a kinda dreamy voice "The crisp cool air and beautiful foliage of autumn mean...that hunting season is here!" Still in the same voice.
Ad for a local gun shop. But it threw me...was expecting something aimed at leaf peepers, as we call 'em. ;-)
What's leaf peepers, precious?
Well, of course. I told the wife we were just very fortunate that we were there and not still at class, or worse that we weren't at the beach.
It was also good that it happened last night instead of Monday night during all the flooding.
Wife talked to her orthopedic surgeon who had already seen her this a.m. He said it's not uncommon earlier on, but this is a bit unusual. He's getting her a brace and she'll come home today or tomorrow.
Wife also chatted about how Nana hears things and amplifies the severity. Dr. was already tuning in to that.
