The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It worked. Although I only told him he needed to keep the medicine down. For one thing, I couldn't "re-dose" him...I don't know how much he'd already absorbed! I was most scared he would throw it up and not get the full benefit of the antibiotic.

But he seems fine now. It was really touch and go there for an hour or so, but he's up walking around now.

My house is full of the smell of wild rice cooking....a gift from a relative in Minnesota. It's a special treat...wild rice and chicken broth.

I wish I had some 7-Up to give him...or some Ginger-ale.

Do you have any Chamomile tea? That should help soothe his tummy. Poor little guy. Tell him we're praying for him to get better soon!

Good idea!

He does seem much better. It was like a wave of nausea that passed, I think, when the medicine went on through his system. It was very sweet and I think it was just sickening to him.

He ate two helpings of soup with wild rice.

Vernor's ginger ale (originally a Detroit product) is the best in the universe. Buy it by mail in cans, and let it go flat. Once the bubbles are gone, it really soothes queasy stomachs. It's also pretty zingy if you drink it cold, with the bubbles still in it.

They sell Vernor's here! I've seen that ginger ale. I think Rosie really likes it.

I'll have to get some and try it. I've been meaning to.

Every time I think "Oh, my health insurance costs too much" I remember that one little accident, one weird illness, and it pays for itself... wow, that had better be a wonder-drug they're giving him.

FMA 46 alert!

I can't wait to see this, not after last week's episode. I think Al's getting himself in deeper than he knows...

And, having managed to chase all female persons away (a particularly peculiar talent of dubious value), ExGeeEye hangs out the puerile "NO gURLs aLLoweD" sign.
