The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The novelization of the new movie. There are also novels of independent stories--something elf-boy can look forward to when he gets older :) Actually that's kinda partly how I learned to read on an adult level--when "Star Wars" came out I read the novelization of that and it got me in the habit of reading movie novelizations.

slow to restore the 100-foot interval, and at least three cars will jump into the gap, and your car will…you get the idea.

Yeesh, around here you'd be at a dead stop in no time. If you leave 3/4 of a car length, some dumb jack$^#^#%^#^ will try to shove a car into it.

Crow was just choosing his catch phrases before the commercial break, now they're back. "We're all out of toner!" (I recorded off TV BTW--did you?) Pearl is just starting.

Er, you have to remember that I've seen the first four out of twenty-four episodes. So far the differences are: it's not 16th century Japan, but rather one of those mixed high/low tech cultures anime seems to love. IE, people are fighting robots with katanas. The bandits are robots of some sort, not precisely sure what. Kikuchuyo is also a machine. Instead of a couple of ancient farmers, the villagers send their priestess-chick, her kid sister, and a young farmer to look for samurai. Plus, the movie is three hours long; the anime will clock in at somewhere over eight, so they can expand things a lot. Or invent all-new stuff...

Oh, yeah, and some of the samurai are pretty in this version. Especially Katsushiro.

If you had highspeed internet, I could tell you where to get these - I'm using a p2p network, basically, and this anime isn't licensed yet so it's not illegal to download fansubs. Heh, you're the one who needs to find an anime group in your area. People there are usually thrilled to pass out fansubs.

my mother walks into the kitchen this morning with this thing still in the package and asks me what I think of it. I took one look and said, "what on earth is this thing that you have wasted your money on?"

she opened the package and proceeded to place this contraption ON MY HEAD.

I've got credits. I recorded it from a DVD so I don't have commercials....just pledge breaks. :)

Well, give me the link at least for when I'm able to get it later. Sigh--I'm really gonna have to look into getting highspeed Internet somehow. I think the closest anime club is the comic store in Green Bay 75 miles away, unfortunately. But I'll probably be going there as my birthday present to myself next week, so maybe I'll ask the guy if he has fansubs. He has a pretty big manga collection.

Anyway, that anime version sounds pretty cool. You know I bet there's a real market for turning classics into anime like that.

I didn't realize the villian is Michael Moore, LOL!

Love the primitive computer graphics in this movie.

"You used your password for unauthorized viewing of cinnabuns!"

Madeline Albright is yelling at Fingle.

Thank you! He is feeling better just in time to test for his next belt. However, I am going to see if he can take the make up test since he has missed the last three classes.

"Have you ever been doppled before?"--I can't believe they let that line go by with no comment!

"Man--huge slam on anteaters out of nowhere!"
