I like the live threads alot sometimes.
But I'm not that thrilled with watching these conventions to start with. Seeing that the nominees are already picked, don't they seem more like huge publicity events?
In the past, I believe, the candidates were actually picked at the conventions. Now that was true excitement, I imagine.
Evening! Watching some convention coverage while I work.
We tried hanging one of those door alarms on the banner today, but it is ~VEY~ sensitive. A breeze that I barely felt set it off... Will have to find another way to attach it.
Yup. They're scripted and staged and kind of silly. But it's tradition and you get to hear nice speeches and music. They just played the service songs. "Over hill, over dale!"
(Ahem)You...are weird.
You're welcome.
Now, if you please, I have a sudden urge to hunt cetaceans from a rowboat. Therefore, please,
Call me Ishmael.
Haven't heard that one in awhile.
Well, I hope W gets a big bump from all this.
*sigh* I expected it from the dwarves....
Not unless the masses watch CSPAN. Hope the prime time speeches are good.
Evenin' all. I wuz jokin' when I said I'd have tuh swim home...but I durn near did. Tropical depression Gaston (durn French) has dropped somewhere between 3-7 inches of rain on us this afternoon. To put that in perspective, Isabel dropped about 3.5. At least we didn't have the winds.
But there's flooding all over the place. I took a different route 'cause I knew my regular way would be trouble. But I was diverted about 5 times. My normal 30 minute drive took three hours.
Dinner, now watching the convention and tryin' to catch up.
Ramius - Ron Silver ROCKED. He said "President Bush is doing exactly the right thing."
Rosie - CSPAN has live streaming video if you want to try that. I had it playing at work today.
Counting against me are the facts that: I respectfully decline to grow a ZZ Top beard, and would refuse to braid one if I had it.
OMG!!! Did I just see Michael Moore at the RNC!!!!????
BLECH!!!!!
Good heavens! Sounds like a mess. I don't know about you, but I always find driving up to flooded areas of road to be completely unnerving...likely just me, though...I know.
I've got the streaming video going too...it's not fantastic, but it's pretty good...got a good connection.
I hope people were throwin stuff at him...useless swine...
I love Laura Bush! I just love reading to my jedis.
Can't tonight, though...am totally congested and sneezing! Major allergy attack coming on!
How about setting it on the ground, or better yet: a short post... hang the alarm on the post, and put a plastic bag over it to keep the water out... run a string to it so that if anybody moves the sign it falls off the post and sets it off.
ohh... ever better yet... a perimeter trip line... also connected to the alarm on the post...
:-)
There's fun to be had, here...
I didn't enjoy the drive home. And I wouldn't have made it in the car.
The canal walk is under water. I'm guessing they're gonna have to close the floodwall, if it's not too late.
Speaking from experience, they are hard to braid.
I wish I was! Un-frickin-believable!
Nice truck, huh? :-)
That's amazing, Corin. I really don't like water in places it's not supposed to be!
Anybody have a harpoon handy?
