Evenin' all. I wuz jokin' when I said I'd have tuh swim home...but I durn near did. Tropical depression Gaston (durn French) has dropped somewhere between 3-7 inches of rain on us this afternoon. To put that in perspective, Isabel dropped about 3.5. At least we didn't have the winds.
But there's flooding all over the place. I took a different route 'cause I knew my regular way would be trouble. But I was diverted about 5 times. My normal 30 minute drive took three hours.
Dinner, now watching the convention and tryin' to catch up.
Ramius - Ron Silver ROCKED. He said "President Bush is doing exactly the right thing."
Rosie - CSPAN has live streaming video if you want to try that. I had it playing at work today.
OMG!!! Did I just see Michael Moore at the RNC!!!!????
BLECH!!!!!
Good heavens! Sounds like a mess. I don't know about you, but I always find driving up to flooded areas of road to be completely unnerving...likely just me, though...I know.
I've got the streaming video going too...it's not fantastic, but it's pretty good...got a good connection.
Yikes! Glad you made it home safe!
We're just about to get another wave of storms here and are under a flood watch...but I doubt we'll get anything series...just some of the dirt roads will get washed out pretty badly if we get torrential rains. That's to be expected, I guess.
But I'd better shut down before they get too close. Gonna go read and then to bed, maybe sooner rather than later, if the power goes out.
Corin - glad you made it, long drive, good time for the "LOTR on tape". Trucks are right handy.
We had some good rain Friday night. 5 to 6 in in a narrow band through downtown KC and the Plaza. The new flood improvements are working though, no massive flooding but several interstates were closed temporarily. We got an inch and half. Was a different story in 1998.
Sam & Ruthie - prayers that Frances takes a wrong turn and heads back out to see. Take care down there.
The light show just to the north of us only needed the backdrop of Mt. Doom to make it complete.
