The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

:-)

It's warmer than usual this morning...72. It's been running in the 60s and even upper 50s!

Gooood morning! Yay...Monday.

I need a book recommendation. I'm gonna request Passage, but that won't be in for awhile. Hopefully I can find something fairly light, maybe science fiction IF it's not cheesy.

Any ideas?

Hey, Ruthy...

A friend of mine's sister died and Celeste and I organized getting a bunch of food together. (She is a fellow homeschooler from my church.) Anyways, to get to the point, I swung by a friend's house to pick up a dessert she made, since it was on my way to Celeste's and she had three black poodles! Two standard, one toy!

Oh my goodness, they were darling! The standard poodles were just like Pippin and Pepper, only HUGH! What struck me was that they behaved exactly the same way! I would rub their cheeks and they would stand up and practically wrap their front legs around my neck!

Now I'm longing for a little toy poodle...of course it is the LAST thing we can afford, but I can put it on the list for ASG. (After Steve Graduates)

I got at least one dachshund you can have, if that'd do as a substitute...

I'd really like a chihuahua too...I think a white-knuckle dog would be just a hoot.

I think I'm finally resigned to the fact that I can't deal with Fritzi. He's not really fully housetrained, for one. If I'm paying attention, he does ask to go out, SOMEtimes, but usually he has to be reminded, like a little kid...otherwise he goes in the house. That'd probably be OK for someone who was home all day, but not for me.

And he's a whiny, nervous, clingy little thing. Drives me nuts. Fiona is small, but she has spunk.

Maybe a family member would take him?

I gotta go...gotta get dressed and start getting ready to start school. I don't know if I'll be back, we'll see how it goes...but I know I won't be here this evening, Steve will be home.

See you all later!

What do you use for an html editor?

I downloaded a free program ~ the name escapes me but I think Bear gave me the link ~ I can look it up tonite.

I've got my template set up. So I don't do anything too complicated. I ~could~ use notepad.

I mostly have learned by trial and error ~ or by asking Bear or ecurbh. ;-)

Good morning all - I am going to try to search through the tape from last night to find the dressage competition. I had to tape six hours, hopefully between the Ping Pong and handball and everything else there is a good long section of dressage.

I have to work this morning, chat more this afternoon!

Are you taping the dressage competition because you're planning to homeschool the ponies?

Oh wait...maybe I'm confused...

School starts for me, too! I'm excited, and nervous.

The tortillas are "Mission" brand.

LOL! - I gave up trying to homeschool Bay in dressage. He hated it.

I'd let him watch if I thought he'd pay attention!

Let's see. Book recommendations... "The Rolling Stones", Robert Heinlein. "Ender's Game" - it's not light, though - Orson Scott Card. "The Compleat Enchanter", L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt.

Almost time to leave! I'm all dolled up - wait until tomorrow, I'm pulling out all the stops, but today is quite dressy.

Got my lunch packed... my bag packed... ibuprofin... book for the bus... I think I'm ready!

I'm nervous. Remember to pray for me!
